Nevergood's high power garden

Ok, I got tired of chasing my old threads, so I am combining all my test lights in on thread.

I am now using 2 and 3 gallon Smartpots with Readygro Coco. I am using Cutting edge nutes, drain to waste with rain water. I have multiple strains, some flipped quick on shelves and others that are thicker under my high power lights.
The top shelf is running 8 Vero 29's on 2 cen-100-36s. I think there is 4 Gorilla Glues under that. The bottom shelf is 2 Veros @ 50 watts and 4 China Bridgelux COBs @ 25 watts each, with 3 GGs under it.

The highest power fixture I have build draws 700 at the wall and uses 2 Luna 300s on 2 HLG320s. It is over a 4'x5' area for the first run with 12 OGs. With a Lux Meter this light @ 30" is equal to a Gavita @ 36". I have it @ 40" and will let the plants grow up to the light. They didn't light the light @ 32" the first day, but I didn't want to dim it, so I raised it. If I can get over 1.2 GPW then I will build more this way. For some reason I can't get some of my pictures to upload, but they both look like the one in the picture.

The other Luna fixture is very similar but is run off of 2 HLG 240s, I will soon be getting my Citizen CLU550 and with test the output of the Luna fixture @ 500 watts against a similar fixture with the CLU550 at the say wattage.

The last light I have is a 500 watt stadium light that I removed the 2 HLG 240s and now use one HLG 320 to increase output per watt. 500 watts was just to intense for a single point, even with the reflector.

Powering the room, all the drivers will eventually be in the attic with a dimming panel in the room. I will just have a bunch of leads, all tagged with wattage, running into the room. All my drivers are wired together with one plug per set.

I should be getting my CLU550s tomorrow, so I wired up the drivers for a 500 to 600 watt fixture. 2 CLUs and 4 HLG120-1050s. The longer cord is power to the fixture and the shorter is to the dimming panel, plus I added an extra power in. Tomorrow I will get one more reflector.

Finally, I got my first 2 Citizen CLU550 in the mail. I was a bit surprised by the size. They just look small and feel fragile. I can't wait to test the light against the Luna 300 at different watts. The Luna has impressed me so far though. I turned the light down to 50% and it only lost 15,000 Lux, from over 100,000 Lux. I didn't use the watt meter, just a guess. When I check output of the 2 COBs, I will use the watt meter to match each fixture. I also picked up a 4 light 220v controller. This will easily cover all my lights, with room to spare. Here are a couple comparisons of the CLU550, Vero 29, and the Luna 300.

The CLU550 didn't like the 16 g. wire or the heat it took to get the solder to stick. I delaminated the contact. I was able to run it for a minute, but never checked any thing but the watts drawn. With 2 HLG120 1050 it pulled 258 watts. I am going to wait now, until I get a hold of the 2 input holders.
Because of this I had to move a couple of my lights and plants. I was going to run 2 500 watts fixtures in the middle of my room, but I don't have the second 500 watt fixture done. So now the 700 watt fixture is in the middle of the room and the 500 watt fixture is in the 4'x5' corner.
The corner is now 12 OG's and 3 Critical Mass. The OGs didn't like the light at first and repotting didn't help. They now have roots coming out of the pots, so it is time to flower. The 500 watt fixture is passively cooled but my wall fan directly behind it, so super cooled. The canopy is seeing 80,000 Lux at the edges and 110,000 Lux in the center.

The next tray is a 2'x4' tray with 330 watts over it. This is the 500 watt stadium light that I have modified. First was the HPS hood and then I removed the 2 HLG 240s and replace them with one HLG 320. I might even go down to a HLG 240. This will get lumen output over 130 Lumen per watt. If I am not happy with this I will only use it as a Veg light. For now I have my bushiest plants under it, 2 GGs and one Critical Mass. You can also see my intake, CO2 system, dehumidifier, and my green light in the clip-on reflector. I have been able to use just rain water for the last couple months, so that hose doesn't get used.

On the shelf I have some Grape Ape in one gallon smartpots. This light is 8 Vero 29 @ 25 watts each. I set this light up so that I can simply remove a Y in the wire harness to run half the Veros @ 50 watts. Right now the plants are receiving 100,000 Lux. In a week or 2 another 4 plants will be under the other 200 watt fixture also.

And for the largest area I have, about 5'x6', I will have my 700 watt fixture on high. I would like to see I the Luna 300s can produce or if it is better running the softer at 250 watts each, maybe less. The light will be no less than 30" from the canopy to achieve 130,000 Lux, equal to a Gavita @ 36". I do wish these girls were taller, but I need to the rest to start flowering. The 2 largest ones under the stadium light are vegging great. I am just under 2000 watts in my room. I am hoping to get just under 3000 watts when done.

Nice work!

Very nice lights, over very nice plants. Did I fail to see lenses or is that a conscious design choice?

I ask because I specified 80 degree glass lenses for my modules running four CXB3590 3500K @50W apiece. I did this to help contain the spread a bit and direct it downwards, yet still allow cross lighting for better canopy penetration. Did I lose more than I gained? The pattern and intensity sure 'look' good, but I think we've all been deceived and thus wary of such subjective observations.

The other reason I did it was for durability; they're sealed and waterproof so nothing gets in to degrade the chip. If I run it soft and cool it might last for decades of continuous use! Again, in your opinion, was that wisely protecting an investment or unnecessary overkill?

Thank you @Alex Lau for adding a new headache. I now have 2 90+cri Luna 300s in 2700K, right Alex. It would help to stamp the temp and cri on the chip. Ok, I now need 2 more HLG240s, 2 Coolbays and a hood. 80CRI vs 90CRI coming soon. There will be crossover lighting though. I can't afford to lower my overall just to make you guys happy. I should still get a good idea of the differences.
As for the Citizens, I am waiting on FedEx for my holders and will build this light before the 90cri Luna. The Citizens will run on 2 HLG120-1050Bs per COB and I already have 8 of these sitting on a shelf with 2 coolers next to it with the hood.

I am still changing things, and will be adding 2 more 500 watt light fixtures soon and making the old stadium light a veg light. I also have a couple Mr. Nice and Grape Apes that are still small enough to fit under the shelf. If I get my holders and CLU550 3000k tomorrow, that light will replace the stadium light and when I can cough up 2 heat sinks and another hood I can finish a 2 COB 2700k 90cri fixture running at 500 watts. Most of my calmag deficiencies are gone and everything is happy. Soon the 700 watt fixture will be back over the 4'x5' corner and there will be a total of 1000 watts over the center 5'x8' area.
