Little Help for new Auto Grower

Hi Fellow Growers...

I have been growing for a few years now and have decided i want to try to grow some Autos due to quicker timing... I do however require a bit of help, so if anyone on here has any experience of growing Auto's indoors using soil any help would be appreciated.

Setup :
Room - 120cm x 90cm
240w Propagation light
600w HPs Dimmable to 400W (Aircooled)
Cana Pro Soil Mixture
Usual Soil Nutes From Cana (Vega, Flores, Rhizotonic, Canazym, PK13-14, Cana Boost)
Will be using 6ltr AirPots

Seeds
Dinafem - Blue Cheese
Dinafem - Blue Amnesia XXL
Dinafem - Critical +

OK so i guess the questions i have are...

For the room size would i be able to fit 12 plants (4 of each strain)
When should i start with the nutes and at what strength
What are the strains like to grow

If i can get over an oz per plant i will be happy so long as i can have upto 12 plants comfortably in that size room

Room would look a little like this:

Is this something that would work, as im not sure on how big or bushy auto's grow i am unsure of how many i can fit in this space, as when i grow normal 12/12 plants i top them so they are busy, the auto's i will be leaving to their own devises

From my experience on my current grow 12 might be to many for a tent your size. My tent is 80cm x 80cm and I had 4 in which allowed 40cm x 40cm for each plant, which is more than what you've allocated per plant. I've moved 1 out and space is still an issue. My pots are a little bigger but space was an issue before the roots filled the pot. I'd suggest running 6 at a push. That'd be 45cm x 40cm per plant.

As for nutes that depends on what's already in your soil, not looked into your soil but autos tend to require less nutes and its recommended to ease Into them, starting at 1/4 strength or even 1/8 and not going above 1/2 strength of what the label or schedule says. I'd say wait for them to give you a sign that they need them before using them or you run the risk of nute burn. Anything that slows or stunts growth is bad for an auto.

Hi TopDog, thanks for your input, I was hoping to get a little more than 6 in there, will have to think that over a little lol, but I know what you mean with no space, wasn't sure on how busy they can get.

The soil i have is Canna Terra Pro, Perlite, peat and a little nutrient added, so i dont think i would nute untill they looked like they needed it, and then little at a time... would you say to use all the nutes i have, just in 1/4 - 1/8 strength ?

What light schedule do you run yours off... I will be planting straight into the airpots and will have the 220W prop light over them while young as not to stress them, then once they start to take off move under the 600HPS... i have read on so many different times for light, I was thinking 20/4... what do you run yours on ?

You could maybe try 8, but if space becomes an issue then you might not yield more than you would of done off 6 anyway. If you measure out 45cm x 40cm using a tape its not a big space. I'll never run more than 2 in my tent after this. If your gunna do a few runs then you could always start a few more off if space is looking ok when the first lot are a few weeks into flower. As well as playing it safe for space this would give you a harvest every 6-8 weeks, Just a thought.

As for nutes etc, im not familiar with the ones your using but all you need is a grow and bloom, as long as they got micros in then it should be good, maybe calmag too. Im assuming vega is veg and flores is flower with your nutes?.

Light cycle is down to preference, Id say go with 18/6 or 20/4 so they get some rest but 24/0 is just as common. I'm running 18/6 this time, If I run autos again I'll try 20/4.
