WALMART first it closes the Local mom and pops by coming - Now leaves those towns high and dry!

Living out in no where PA, I don't blame Wal-mart at all for the stores closing here. I mean I drive 20-25 mins to wal-mart if needed. I blame the towns and the people running them who were looking for handouts from Walmart to help with taxes, rebuilding towns,etc, and I blame all my neighbors for giving up on their local stores to drive the extra miles to save a few dollars. Only a few. Everyone knew these wal-mart express stores were a test for a few years and they didn't work out. Don't blame them, blame your neighbors, people in ur town, and local governments. Wal-mart didn't put the ma and pa stores out the people did by not supporting who we know etc. what the town was built on. Now a days people could care less and always trying to save a penny.

In a truly free market these things would not be as impactful as they are in the present. At the source of the problem, there is government protectionism combined with corporate welfare.

Walmart can only be Walmart because government enables it.

Its called "defense" but I agree with you, I was laughing this morning @ something I saw on TV.. Was a history program about the end of ww2 .. Churchill n Stalin signing an agreement how Europe will be divided up between Communism and Pro West territory... Churchill didn't tell the U.S. about the agreement because he knew how outraged the U.S. would be about Interfering with foreign policy :lol:

Maybe that's where we learned it from.

Public schools routinely teach that obedience to authority is a higher value than freedom and kind human relations.
I think it isn't learned so much as it is instilled with an intended purpose.

I use a local hardware store if I'm spending 15$ or less.. But I'll drive the extra 20 minutes to Menard's or the depot for large purchases.. Its worth the time and gas to save 20% and have a wider selection.

Local Ace Hardware has more selection on obscure items I need. Like stainless steel socket head cap screws, or door and cabinet hardware Ace employees also know their products

I had a great hardware store that closed after the owner died, his kid was useless and it lasted about a year. Great for a 60 year old faucet part or random hard to find oddball things. I refuse to give Ace my money, i was in a jam aboutv5 years ago n needed a 6' ladder.. Ace was only option or drive 45 minutes each way to Lowes.. Those scumbags got me for 100$ for a 6' fibreglass ladder that costs half that everywhere else..

Then don't complain when you have to drive 20 mins for a 1/4 pound of 10D nails or a 10 cent washer when the mom and pop closed down, yes I said 1/4 pound of nails. I sold nails buy the pound NOT by the box.
BTW, if I see your mug in my store often and you asked, a 20% discount would not be a problem on most items.

How much is a hour and a half of your time worth?
I paid 4.59 for a 15 oz jar of mayo last week at the corner deli when I could have gotten in my car and hit the Walmart or Trader Joes 10 min each way and pay 3.00 bucks for a 64 on jar.

They got me, but a year and a half later a home depot opened up about 5 minutes from my aunts house..so I doubt that Ace is still even in business. I hope they went belly up.

What's your beef with the EPA and The dept of education?
