Modular Hydro Air Injection in Soil

I thought this was interesting. The guy is a bit of a clown, but I wanted to get more input.

My first question would be how "How do you prevent salt buildup" or "how would you flush if need be". The pot is closed. There is no drainage.

I'm not sure I see the benefit of adding soil. Soil can be expensive. Why not just go DWC? I guess if you are looking for certain flavors soil would help.

Here is the video. The website is ModularHydro.com

You would prevent salt buildup by running organically. He also says you can put a plug in the bottom to flush if desired.

For me, soil is free. A way to grow organically in soil with the all the benefits of hydro without the hassles... Sounds grand.

My mind is already being flooded with tea concoctions, possible setups, cloning opportunities, etc.

Thank you for this. Never even heard of it and certainly never crossed my mind.

I was configuring a small setup last night (3 pots). I have to order new air stones tonight. The ones I have are too large. Should be set up and finished by the weekend.

I'm undecided on whether or not I want to try germination in those pots. I may just start 2 in coco as usual and one in a hooked up pot.

Thanks again.

Hey Rex let me know how this turns out. Ive been eyeing these for a while now. Ive even spoke with him personally twice by phone. Seems to know his shit. My only problem is I use subs super soil and use 7 gallon pots. I think the biggest pots they have for these is 2 or 3 gallons. But imma get around to them as well.

That's supposed to be the benefit. Like hydro, you can grow bigger plants in a smaller pot. You could still run your super soil. I plan on running one with organic soil and the other with coco and tea. See if it makes a difference.

3.5 gallon was the biggest I saw.

This is very easy to duplicate (and I most likely will on a larger scale if I like it) but I felt like he deserved the purchase.

I'll let you know as soon as it comes in.

Glad i found this thread. Had this idea in "2014" , joking i called it MudPonics & unfortunately never got around to building it. Now i just came across it & purchased x2, 3 gall i think. But plan on making these for 5's & 7's if i like them.
No news from anyone here?
Looks cool & could work in Pro-Mix or CoCo. Ill try a light soil.
4 days since purchase & no shipping info though.

Hi,
I actually thought of doing it quite some time ago, but unfortunately I never went through with the idea either, lol.
I just ran across these today and was thinking about trying them out, but when I went on to check their reviews I found some bad reports about them that were filed with the BBB. They were mostly complaints about people not receiving their orders. So, before I decide to give theM a try or not I wanted to try and ask someone else whose ordered from them about their experience.
Did you ever receive your order and, if so, how long did it take to arrive? Also if you got them, and tried them, I’d really appreciate it if you would please give me your impression of them from your experiences.
Thanks alot,
Jory

No, I never received my order nor would PayPal respond. Covid at the time had everything automated n nobody reimbursed me my $80 or $120 , I don't remember which, just that I got beat. You can mention that on the thread too. I attempted to reach out to the company as well. No response & nobody answers the phone.
In theory, done properly, this system should rock. But I don't think I'd use it as they describe, keeping your soil soaked n all. My current methods are breaking records so I'm not gonna futz around with building a Mud-Ponics system.
Just ran my first fully organic run though. Great bud but my lack of experience with it lead to low yeilds.

Thanks a lot man, it really sucks you got beat though. I won’t be ordering from them. Lol.
I’ve been using HPS/MH with organic nutes and a mix of jiffy pro-mix with perlite to about a 50/50 ratio then adding some bone meal and worn casting. I don’t have an actual recipe for the amounts; I usually do I by feel. I mix everything in a big container, or a cleaned and sterilized bathtub and mix it up and keep adding till I get the feel and consistency I’m looking for. For nutes I use Alaska fish fertilizer and a bat guano tea for flowering.
You won’t get quite as high a yield with soil and organic as you will with hydro, but it will be much higher quality overall, have a better taste, smoke better and more evenly as well as being a lot cleaner since therewere no chem used during the growing process. Keep at it brother, after a couple grows you’ll get better used to the methodology that’s used as well as to the to the little quirks of it and like any other method you’ll get better with each cycle.
I’ve been running hps/my fir over 25yrs and am in the process of starting to renovate my complete perpetual grow setup and am tryinv to decide on if I want to try a new method or stay with what I know.
I'm seriously thinking about Switching from air cooled mh/hps to either high quality LED’s (I’m seriously considering Green Sunshine es300’s) or maybe even vertically hung my/hps, with possible supplemental led quantum board side lighting as I’ve seen some pretty impressive yields using vert. hung hps lights. I could even go with t5’s for propagation or cloning, led for veg, and one of the two fore mentioned ways for flowering. It’s just so damn hard to decide. There’s so damn much out there these days. I remember when I started out, and I didn’t have any indoor gardening stores anywhere near me, and had to order my lights and stuff from a company with a small black and white ad in the in the back of high times. Hell, if we wanted hydro we had to order the schematics and part list from another ad in the back there and send in line $3 or $5 for the plans, in cash only, lol, and hope we would get the plans back in the mail, or if you were really lucky you’d call the right ad and find a real good place, like I did back in the day with General Hydroponics, and be able to order a few different hydro systems.
As far as growing methods, I’m looking at one pretty cool and intriguing way that works by gravity and an automatic valve setup that’s called an Autopot. It’s a mix of hydro and soil with optional added airdome things, and seems like it would work well.
Do you use led or mph/hos for lighting, and what type if I may ask bro?

Yes, agreed, we've come a long way & so has technology & ideas. There's threads here on the auto-pot system & others like it. I forgot their names, but I knew a few guys here that liked it. Soil pot sitting in a tub of enclosed water/feed with air stones. They never watered from the top. Not sure ifcit upped their organic growing weights or not.
My buddy @OneHitDone uses Green Bycicles ammendment to make soil & it works awesome for him. Huge yeilds bigger then he ever had on synthetics. Easy stuff & he only uses plain, un-ph'd tap water with the occasional tea. Stella buds & quality.
The good thing about HPS/MH/Floro's is its easier to grow under. Led beats it in just about every way though after you dial in. For some that dialing in process equally some serious losses. Others jump right in with no issues. Took me a minute for sure.
As the spectrums become more complete & diffussion becomes regularly used it will get easier though.
I use supplemented HLG & Amare Tech. For results i never dreamed possible, for real.
