No if you look at the light in the OP its clearly blurple by the reflections. I have never seen that purple, reddish shade from a cree or bridgelux COB

The only difference is that the OP has 2 of the "200w" chips and the other has only one. Just read the tags on the pics posted by both, one is a HYG08 2x200 and the other is a HYG05 1x200

K dude link me up where you sourced the light. I'm curious and no I am not looking to join our Murican brothers, the fuck ups of Murica into a shit slinging contest. I am looking to source a good cob on the cheap myself someday. Yeah I could build one. Fuck that tho. I've worked my ass off all my life making, building, fixing and doing all kind of amazing shit. I prefer someone else with the proper tools do it for me these days. Thanks and peace n luv.

My gripe with the thread is you don't have to pay $1000 for a quality cob like the op said.

Yours is not a cob and is exactly the same as the other guys except yours has 2 of these "cobs". It even says on the label of the pic you posted that yours is 2x 66 3w diodes, which is not a cob, at least nothing like the "Muricah" cobs people are building themselves or buying pre-built.

Look if you're happy with your light great! My point was only to make it clear to ALL that this is not anything like the "Muricah" cree or bridgelux builds or pre-builts and people shouldn't take these results as a way to judge what those lights are capable of.

And for the record my screen is fine, never had a problem seeing a pure white light from any cree or bridgelux cob light shown on here or any other sight. Just because the light you have is not a pure blurple, doesn't mean that it doesn't have at least some of those spectrum specific diodes in it, which those "high dollar" "rich people" lights do NOT have.

What's the difference? COB=Chips On Board. Meaning the "white" COBs just have all white "CHIPS" on board. Correct? So no Blurple. Or is it like
One giant chip.

lol hmm last time i checked i think most people are fooled into thinking USA only makes the cree Cob or the better version could it be just be that 99 percent of Chip on board cobs Come from China , Tawian , Japan mind you there the leaders when it comes to Cost and quality have a look where your phone was made ??? PC or even TV sure the hell not USA

Now maybe some US Company has shares or owns a company in Indonesia that make top bin Cree cobs then it gets shipped to USA and boxed / pakaged in a made in USA just saying lots of hay wire going on
Shit tons of shit made in Mexico and re packaged made in USA
