To those looking for cups, I found some at the dollar store last week and they are 16oz red tall and skinny, them I just found some 16oz green at target that are a little shorter and larger around. I'll probably go with the shorter fatter ones since I'm bottom feeding in a tray that only gets so deep.

I think I will run 5 different strains. Bio-d f2, cherry wine, black dynamite f2, bio-d x off grid kush, and cherry puff f2. I love variety.

Any final word on blumat use? It's pretty much the deciding factor of whether or not I'm in. I already ordered this bonsai carrot...

Ain't nobody got time for dat!

I am going to give it a whirl with a Critical Kush from Barneys farm. Just got to measure my cups are look and see if they are 16oz. or 12's. It should be fun.

why is there a rule against changing lights ?

I'm setup to use different lights in different spaces for seedlings and clones, teen vegging and flower.

I was thinking of showing who is top dog for fun, but not being able to change lights eliminates that possibility. I mean shoot I can't put a seedling under a 200 watt led.

it's funny people talking crap about blumats....what's the advantage of less root volume? not even possible to cheat with them....but these 5 gallon hydro setups....for a 16oz cup.....that should be banned. they should all be mini jobs like Dawg used.
A blumat in coco is a hydro system. I think anything should go as long as your root mass is contained within the cup.
For me the Blumat thing is kind of just an inside chuckle because a few early users used them with great success (@mc130p) so no it seems that everyone is like - Oh look, Blumats and I will be a top competitor in this comp lol

Why not? My plant is going under two 315w CDMs. If your plant can't handle light, there's something wrong with it. I'm pretty sure sunlight is more powerful than a 200w LED.

Besides, you're supposed to put the plant straight into 12/12, you're going to have to use your flower room.

200 watts of straight led will burn a seedling to a crisp. that makes no sense at all. even straight into 12/12 they can't handle full flowering lighting,

my question is to why the restriction. NOT why not

Because that is part of the challenge of using your grower skill to finish under such less than ideal conditions for every stage of growth.
200W led too much on seedlings? lol - you can start em up under 1000W hps or halide if you have your placement correct

sounds like its just to make me waste electricity. A 200 watt led for 5 little seedlings, while they won't need the full light for at least 30 days. wanted to have fun, but I don't see what difference it makes whether I upsize the light as the plants mature, or start out with a full size light.

On a side note for those of you running LED's, dimming is allowed IIRC. I had to dim my lights in the 6th comp due to temp issues.

@FrozenChozen is dimming kosher? I'd assume dimming for HID lamps would be in the same boat so long as the bulb itself doesn't change.
