your funny, apparently you just read all of the posts above steering people away from optic, and yet you still want to buy one ?
Any of yall got a current discount code??i am going to buy a optic 400 watt maybe a go green 300 watt causei like the 6 lights but either one of those for sure!

I would get both honestly if u can pocket it … Will it not pay for itself in the end? if not then yeah i wouldn't get either one but thats just me.

the cxb cob from ggled will run just as efficient as the vero from optic will due to the unknown drivers ggled uses.

the case for the optic doesn't handle heat as well as it could, they also drive the cobs really hard lowering efficiency. get a tastyled, a PLC .

purple buz just curious you rocking a vero cob from optics?
no but for the most part I know how to read specs, have been following optics since they first came on to riu, and understand heat management in most of the commercial cases on the market (through trial and error in my own builds)..

Just the bad business practices of the new owners of optic deserves a no buy recommendation

oh my well thanks for the advice… i was tempted to get a couple of units, mostly for testing purpose and to run some side by sides live here.

Im already on board with plc have a few units, I'm only purchasing other cob units to run side by side testings to compare to plc and also in need of smaller units. Tasty led i am working out some things out now.

I appreciate your guesses, as the questions were sort of up in the air ones.

According to your numbers and based off my calculations, this was what I concluded:

A COB without using lenses -> +10 years of expected life, with ideal environment conditions (this is using COB each day for no less than 18 hours a day and for every day of the year).

A COB equipped with lenses -> 2~3 years of expected life, with ideal environment conditions (same operating times as described above).

I liked your dirt bike analogy but it doesn't give me a good sense of how long a lap around Daytona is. I hope this math helps others with deciding whether or not to try lenses.
Lap of Daytona on the oval 2.5 miles lol
