Between 2 lights

After a bunch of reading I decided if I'm dropping the cash I'm going for a superb light because soil/nutess etc are easily replaceable but the light is what I need to focus on is the light.
Check out the Diamond Series from Advancedledlights.com. The 200w is my recommendation.

Yeah thats what I was planning on if I went led. I'm going to check eBay when I'm ready for purchase. The only thing that's tempting about that 400w HPS package is it'd basically be a one stop shop and I could run 3-4 plants no problem and from the above posts if I ran 18/6 then 12/12 it wouldn't kill my power bill maybe another 30-40$
Yes but you'll also have to replace a 400w hid bulb every six to eight months to maintain lumen efficacy. That adds up over the course of 3 years. When you're shopping lighting options make sure to consider that a LED light with a 3 year warranty is basically a one and done purchase - you're set for 3 years. HPS cheaper up front of course but, you'll need a good cool tube, venting, bulb replacement, and will be paying more on power over the next three years. Take a big picture look before you buy.

zips16, I am considering replacing my 2x400W hps for LEDs next fall. In about a month, I will be able to compare my Grapefruit from my HIDs and my Grapefruit from my Blackstar 240. So far I am impress with the 135W unit.

Well after reading Hoss's journal I'm very intrigued with HH. I think if I can find a solid HH set up on ebay ill go for it.

Thanks man, if I had to put a number on it I'd say the Pro-Grow 180 is relatively equivalent to the growing horse power you'd get from a 300w HPS (if they made a 300w HPS). Def more than a 250 but probably a bit less coverage area than you'd get from a 400w hps. I'm an ebay addict and am always looking for solid deals. I actually saw a 180 go for 175 bucks last night. They're out there you just have to look. If you do wind up getting a used one on ebay contact Hydro Hut - they'll honor the remainder of the 3 year warranty. At least they did for me on the one panel I purchased used.

So HH will sell me a used unit if I emailed him? I read all 30+ pages of your journal great info! I have one jock horror auto Fem left that I'm excited to grow indoor as i made some rookie mistakes outdoor last summer with it but still got some decent smoke.

That Generation 7th light sure looks appealing. Looks just like the branded models (penetrator pro) costing 3x more. I wonder if these expensive brands are simply reselling these lights. I will probably try one to see how it performs next to my more expensive brand light.

Good luck!

zips, please don't waste your money on a 250w or 400w HID, especially if exhausting with something bigger than a little fan is going to be an issue....those things run hot and you'll run into more money issues just trying to fix em. I have experience with HH, they are a great company and incredibly reliable. They are great products though, check out my sig for another journal using a Pro-Grow if you're interested. They are perfect for a smaller tent, and I'm sure you'd still have money for one if you invested in a smaller LED. I run mine in a 2x3x5' tent and it's perfect, maybe an overload of light :)

zips16, if you're going to go cheap on any aspect of your set-up, go cheap on the tent, not the light.
The Pro-Grow 180 is $300, that leaves you $200 for a tent and fan.
Pick up a 2x2 tent on ebay for cheap (under $100) and a 4" inline fan (also under $100).
That should leave you around $30 for any extras you may need.
I hope that helps, good luck.
Were you recommending this light prior to owning it? And after a week of owning it why did you send it back? You now say it's not good but why if you didn't grow with it?

I'm amazed that you care enough about a light that hasn't been in production for years to revive this thread over it. It makes me wonder who would care so much? Hmmmm...
Yes, I was recommending Pro-Gro when they were advertising they used Cree diodes, that was before my purchase. Upon arrival, the light was clearly a damaged, and returned, unit. It had old pieces of tape stuck to it, scratches, dings, the works. Also, upon inspection, the diodes were clearly not Cree, either. You couldn't even veg a 2x3 space with that light, let alone try to flower anything, it was garbage. It's Been discussed in multiple threads by many of us old LED Guru's that ever owned, or used, one of Pro-Gro's lights. They're shit, don't touch them. LEC and COB's are the way to go.

I care cuz they are in production with some changes. Like now the full spectrum comes from a single diode instead of mixed colors. They have cobs with 5w around them, called the X5 series. I was interested because I bought an Amare & wanted to compare them as ones a full spectrum Burple & ones enhanced white with quality components. They've made a few other changes to but don't list their Par readings but neither does Amare. An E-Mail gets you all your answers with Amares while Hydroponics Hut doesn't like to answer questions & are not very customer friendly. My X5-500 came in pretty but with a detached heat-sink & fan. The 4 screws weren't in. So I sent it back. The Amare comes in around Feb. 25-30 so by then hopefully HH has sent me a new light. I think Propaganda Pharms is BS & I told HH that today as I asked them if they would like me to do a thread. They said HELL NO we don't want a public thread. Well, I'm doing one anyways & with an honest assessment. the three lights I'm running to test are the Amare SE-500 shhhhh (supposed to be a 450), Hydroponics Hut X5-500 so to do an even comparison & a new one, I'm going to run that new SunCloak vertical system. My plants are to big for that thing but I'm gonna manage. Thanks for getting back to me. Sorry to hear your Pro-Grow was Garbo. I hope I have a better experience. No one recent running one hu? Had to dig into old threads to get answers but those lights are 3-4 years old. Stay up, peep the thread when it comes out.
