Guys, it'll be due time for me to get a 4x8 tent here within a month or two, along with a 32x18 that will be inside of it for my veg room. (Venting into 4x8 from a window for fresh air)
I've looked at eBay and Amazon COUNTLESS times and just wanted some feedback on what you guys are using? My DIY fixture is quite heavy and for that reason I'd only feel comfortable with all steel connectors and sock style vent holes WITH cinching drawstring is a MUST have in my book.
I know gorilla is the way to go, but I can't spend that much.light leaks won't be a problem really besides on the smaller one, but I can tackle that with some foil tape. No biggy.

I'd appreciate some ideas, thanks.
I own 3 tents now and dont use any of them... If you own a house, dont sell yourself short and build a room. If you are renting, it makes sense to buy a tent!

Tents are a limiting factor, sorry dude!
Why would you say that exactly? I see it MUCH better than having 4 walls far away from your plants. Wasting lumens and photons that go out further than needed. Tents keep everything light tight and smell in. Filtering out of a tent IN TO a room is the best idea. Plus, you can zip them open on 3 sides on a 4x8 and have it basically wide open like your "Room".

I use an apollo horticulture tent. Metal frame and corners, drawstring vent holes, etc. It holds up my fan, carbon filter, and diy led rig (minus driver) no problem. Actually using it as a shelf too lol there's abunch of crap on top.

Minor light leaks from zipper and vent hole stitching but easily fixable with tape/panda film. Probably get the same leaks from every tent though. I also use apollo rope ratchets and fan (ventech). All good cheap stuff.

Apollo lights on the other hand.... good thing you built your own LOL

Ya haha. Unless it's their hps/mh. I'd use those. Is it 4x8?

If 4x8 is ALL that you will ever need, thats cool... its smaller than my veg

Because I want to be able to get to my rdwc under scrog. Its so hard to change my water right now with 3 walls. The tents open up in so many different ways that allow me access from any angle. Tent is necessary, and $100 or $175-200 Isnt a huge jump ;)
I don't think he was referring much about the money you'd save. People do DIY for a reason and like he said, why stop with just your light? It's something else to feel proud about and also grow your DIY skills.

What about building a frame out of 2x4's then covering with...

with some caulking/sealing on the joints. could be less than 100$ truthfully. And could hold up anything you could think of.

Don't stop the DIY at the light.

its easier to

buy tent
buy these:http://www.canopiesandtarps.com/canopy-fittings-flat-roof-fittings.html
buy some 3/4" EMT conduit
build a new, stronger internal frame. mine has slider tees to hold the trays as well as a scrog frame. was like $100 in parts

That's pretty legit. I just like the idea of fabric on the outside and having stitched zippers. I could use the stick zippers on panda film but I just see a tent being so much more ready to go and clean.
no it is. i bought a 5x5 tent and just replaced the internal frame with the 3/4". was hanging those 40 lb solarstorms off the roof and didnt want to fuck around
