Why!?? some people really grow under those tiny cfl???
I tried cfl few years ago but it was lights!!!...I had a few 150w one 250w and 2 x 300w cfl...the 150w is 6 inch penetration maximum...those tiny I don't know how many watt...maybe 40w must have 2 inches penetration!!!
Is there big cfl in US?

TONS of first timers use them. I use then for UV and supplement lighting

This guy pulls a pound and a half off 6 plants using 23w cfl bulbs. Trust me, they penetrate way further than you think.

50 seems right if they have reflectors.
Assuming 0.55 gr per watt.

They don't really put out uv unless you are talking about the reptile bulbs. I add a couple in for extra heat during the winter

Ugh

CFL spirals DO PUT OUT UV. Not a ton, but it's there.

I wouldn't go as far as recommending them for their uv output. It is there but the penalty in efficiency is very large for the uv benefit. The uv-b is virtually non-existent in standard cfls

I watched it...60x23w=1380w for 680g...0.5gpw...i cannot see where it is a budget grow...!
I pulled 1.2gpw last time and I aim for 1.4gpw...with the same electricity I use to paid and less nutes...so more for less...that is a budget grow...paid less to get even less is not a budget grow imo!
It is a budget crop...ok on this!
After 2/3 years if you are not in 0.7/0.8gpw range there must be a problem somewhere...! (With hps! Soil!)

When will you be adding this to the dumpster like many others who have used them and realised you pay for what you get? lol

My old 700w Mars II is about ready for the dumpster. I've been resoldering the diodes to try and keep it running, but it's nearly a write off.

What would you recommend as a better alternative to the MArs II at a similar price point? I was looking at just getting a new Mars II 700 for $370 (C$) since I at least know they'll give me acceptable results, but there has to be another option?

Also, the new light will be used exclusively for the flowering/bloom/bud period.
