Yo fellow growers..
brand new to the site, ive been itching to show my girls off, but for obvious reasons i cant do that in the real world so here i am, ready take some opinions on my first grow..
The set up is basic, 1200w HPS, 3 gallon pots, im using coco coir and the full canna range, as instructed by the canna grow guide im using (NOOB ALERT) .. PH 5.8, temps, canaopy 75f, pot level 70f RH between 45 -55% night time temps are more or less the same, same RH, and about 69 to 71f...
My girls are exactly 6 weeks and 5 days old and are on day 19 of flower.
what do you think guys? Honest opinions? Is there anything i need to change? Thankyou...
p.s i pruned the hell out of them the other day as there was just to much foliage blocking mid n low branches from the light.. you wouldnt think it by looking at them but i stripped nearlly every big fam leaf off and the little ones just grew back with a vengance..

They look healthy man by the sounds of it your doing ok but in my experience you should never prune a plant when it's in its flowering stage it takes away from your yield because the plant go's into shock and uses a lot of its engery to come back around again and not on growing buds, most growers clip and prune their plants while there in veg giving them the time to recover before switching over to flowering time. And u never Said if they were autos or not if there autos your not ment to prune them ever really.

I get where you're coming from and im not disagreeing with what you say but i started with 12 healthy plants that ended up been way to much so i narrowed it down to 8 and they just filled the room up, i had no choice but to remove foliage, in order to get light to lower branches, and besides alot of growers swear by pruning plants as long as there healthy, i understand theres alot of contraversy over it both with good arguments but i also believe that indoor methods are different to nature and ive seen increased yields from growers i know who have been growing for a very long time the type of guys who know what there garden output is and have tried and tested methods to increase yeild and it works, at least for them, and im a big believer in doing what works for you..

Before i pruned them there was way to many big floppy fan leaves just drooping down the sides, within 24 hours of pruning, i had mid and lower branches that shot up through the canopy, the plants had really perked up, they looked full of vigor and the growth on the bud sites seemed to do more a few days than the whole time id been flowering, before that my were pot level temps were 64f sometimes colder, and canopy temps of 75f because the plants were bunched up with so much foliage the air flow wasnt getting through the canaopy, now im getting 70f floor temps and the air flow in there is better.. if i hadnt of had that problem i probably wouldnt of bothered tbh, i didnt like ripping off nice healthy leaves but i felt i had no choice.. as for the results they have been positive imo...

That was one of the plants before pruned and the room before, the everything but the top of the canaopy was covered by thick green leaves..
as a first time grower i didnt bare in mind how big and fast they would grow, foliage is great but sometimes to much is a pain when you have limited room

Ya if your room is limited you were better off really most I do when I do indoor is 4 plants at a time in a tent so I prefer to prune while it's in veg

I don't want to start a huge argument but I talked to some large scale commercial growers yesterday doing 10,000 sq ft plus grows for the state here in NV.

I told them I cut the leaves off to stunt it. From touching the lights. They laughed at me and said thatd just make it grow more and quicker. So I put a net over my and started LST a week into flower last night. The branches I bent down grew 2-3 inches last night to turn up.

I'm going to have to say this really is dependent on the strain or not.

Like i said its what works for you, i respect anybodys methods, theres certainly excellent arguments on why you shouldnt remove leaves but imo nobody is wrong or right we're just sharing our experiences and what works for us..

I hear theres confusion with ppl ripping off sick leaves thinking there going to miraculously make there plant recover, the person who advised me clearly said you have to know your plant and roots are healthy enough to bounce back, if your plants are sick or the root ball isnt developed etc etc then the shock will have a negative effect.

I was skeptical but the results speak for themselves..

The roots! This is for sure. If you've got sick plants look at the roots. Ripping a leaf off won't make it recover. BUT! I had a plant smaller than the rest, chopped 6 big fan leaves off it a week before flower and it's catching up quick along with a few OZ of hydrogen peroxide to clean up the roots.

Yes ive seen it many times on the internet where growers think ripping sick leaves off is the answer and in reality it just makes them worse, hope your girl makes a full recovery man...

Very nice looking plants good Color,has long has you don't do nothing stupid now ya should end up with a tidy yeild ,looks like a loft grow,not the easiest of places to grow so just keep at it,

I used to use canna full line,but one of my friends put me onto using just canna coco a/b big bud and pk 13/14,I get the same results if not more.

Thanks for the replys guys much appreciated..

So i took these pictures at day 22 of flowering, i just want to know are the bud sizes about right for the stage im at? Ive looked on the net at some so called comparisons and now i just feel even more confused lol

Also the foliage seems to be growing back like crazy, is it safe to prune again so soon after? Its a damn shame pulling healthy green leaves off but there blocking alot of the bud sites..??

It is my first grow, i promise you that, but yes i have had previous experience helping look after a grow or two where i kind of learned my simple but effective set up.
ive been pretty interested in growing for a long time now but never been in a posistion to do it, im just happy it seems to be doing well, its nice to hear positive feedback because you can find yourself doubting things sometimes, especially when you see other peoples plants online claiming to be the same age but look far more mature, i suppose you dont know if there really telling the truth or not..

Comparing bud size is like comparing dick size, you may be a little jealous of how big someone else's is, maybe you wish yours was that size to, but in the end just be happy that what you have works..........then wonder why you are looking at dicks
