"B" style is the easiest to use & set .
that's the screw I have . it starts true & straight down with no starting wobble

I did 7/64 holes but the m3 8mm self taps are one of the most impossible screws to get on the planet. Man, you must work for a m3 8mm self tap screw comany because that shit is impossible to get in a quantity above 10 in the USA.

For the record I am not trying to throw anybody under the bus. The goals are to grow big under new light designs. Costs and time are a huge concern as well. Hopefully we will all be able to focus on new techniques and the tools required to enable us to take it to the next level.

In Canada we use metric alot and it's available at every hardware store in the country. Some are online too like THESE

Not sure if any of those would work for you.

its a little frustrating at first for sure once you get a few in and find a good combo for drill bit and self taping screws it will speed up process ....you will get into a rhythm

So somebody decided to delete my comment where I suggested people actually try a different route and save themselves some money and time. I do apologize if I used the word fuck but it was only intended to make a point. If this thread is going to get moderated for actually making a good points then I will just delete that thread. Sorry for wasting everybody's time.

I understand your perspective and moderation can be frustrating. I still felt the need to share this though but just for a laugh. DIY is frustrating enough, the internet is even more frustrating. Add the 2 together and you get butthurt.

On the ideal PDF it says #4 or 5 can be used. Not sure why everyone is only looking for the m3. The m3 is probably just the screw you would use outside us. Paid less than $13 for 48 shipped priority 2-3 day.

If you ordered the stainless ones I advise you to be careful when screwing them in. Stainless is softer and you can twist the heads off if you try to turn them to hard.

Thanks grouch for sharing the info, I have not heard of this. The ideal holder only require 2.5-4.5 in lb so hopefully this will not be a issue?

I always thought aluminum was quite soft. I did research if there was any issue using stainless in aluminum, all I saw was possible corrosion. But this mostly happens in the presence of saltwater and using a stainless screw into aluminum should be little issue but aluminum screw into stainless could be.

This is why doing your own research is so important. There are many on this forum who only regurgitate information, actually understanding very little. This search for m3 screws is a great example of that.
