For me the concept that comes to mind is proportionality of response. If somebody were stealing my food my response could be based on the circumstances.

If they broke into my house in the dead of night, I'd be more likely to use deadly force than if somebody were grabbing some blueberries from my field or taking an apple from a tree etc.


It's funny though that people have been conditioned to think that it's not theft if the people doing the taking have anointed themselves "leaders" .

We both could be starving and could be life or death for both, I am close to the same, but someone breaking into my house is asking for a quick kill, there could be a few more and wouldn't slow down.

It's never a bad thing to voluntarily help the hungry, so good for you.

It is a bad thing to help yourself to other peoples stuff though and nobody has the right to do that and everyone has a right to prevent being stolen from.

You absolutely have the right to defend your property and sometimes justice is served on thieves.

A friend of mine told me he used a Quaker response to people he found about to steal his stuff from his shed. He drew his pistol, aimed and said to them, you young fellows might want to move along, I'm about to shoot where you are standing. The next move they made was to sprint the fuck out of there.

I can only say that I will do as I think best. I am moving to a new place that has mostly woods the house sets 200ft back from the road I have posted the property, when I move in I have a sign that says Danger gun range. I have the land to shoot any way I wish safely, except down the drive to the road. No one has been on my place that wasn't asked to be my place is safe, the chance of me running someone off is not very likely.

I liked your reference to the "kings deer".

That brings to mind how arbitrary things are even today, centuries later and the importance of establishing some way to determine who really owns what.

If a person were hungry in the USA should they be able to shoot one of the "kings deer" without getting permission from one of "the kings" agencies ?

NO NEED TO STELL FOOD in the usa they give you food stamps free phone free house and pay your rent and electric bill for you.what is next free tv.people need to work for a living I did at 15 years old.

Hypocrite? I seem to recall a popular conservative talking point that deals with pulling oneself up by their proverbial bootstraps. Or have y'all stopped regurgitating that one. It's kinda hard to keep up sometimes.

Don't get me wrong, I don't subscribe to your bleeding heart views of the poor, but you seem to have a problem with including the poor who don't ascribe to your particular brand of politics.
