Shout out SkunkD0c yeah! I miss him too FanJan, we had some good times. Artisans? Couldn't be more wrong and as usual reflects more what you guys do pretengineering your diy lights.
For a time when hps was hard to get in some areas growers like realstyles started stealing car lights. Leds that is, put enough together and it grows cannabis...
You bring up a classic argument, another one then what I mentioned in my quote and in the posts I reply to. I got to say you are original, usually led fans don't argue replacing 1000w hps with 1000w led. Apart from that you are as cliche as your high priests were years ago already. I could instead refer you to older discussions instead of tearing apart your post and expose your typical extreme bias, but what would be the fun in that...
So let's sum up your claims and logic:
For somewhere around a little less than $800 dollar I can buy 1000watt of led, that produces 80,000 lumen which will easily "beat/top" that 1000watt gavita if ran hard as possible, and for a $1000 I can get a similar but much more efficient led setup. One that will make me more efficient and save me $50 per year in bulb.
I see you learned the Bibled well, it is as if I'm reading your high priests. Which means, you are full of shit.
1. A gavita DE 1000 costs $450-500, not $800.
2. A phillips DE has a lumen ouput (in the par region) of 140-ish thousand whopping lumens. Yeah, remove those inflated reflection losses and it will still out do your numbers.
3. A gavita DE 1000 can be boosted to 1150w.
4. A gavita can raise the temps far enough for the high ppf to actually be efficient.
5. A phillips DE bulb costs closer to $100 than $50, in all fairness, but clearly does not change anything about your so typically skewed and biased theoretic comparison.
6. A gavita is of a professional, high grade, safe, quality that will last longer than it needs too, just like the leds. Unless you boil them... The leds that is...
7. You confuse power usage with efficiency in general. As long as
@REALSTYLES is living in the ghetto led is not more efficient for growing cannabis. Chuck put it nicely earlier, it's all forum fodder. All egos derived from connecting a few cobs to a driver and heatsinks and the inherent effect of running them soft... it has 'driven' some to madness.
