I've really never been much of an Apple guy, although I've always recognized the company's technological and marketing genius. But I'm impressed with their hard stance against gov't bullshit, so more power to them. I hope they/we win this one...

My flip phone pooped out so I got a new phone, a BLU phone. I was looking at the permissions of the most basic apps, like Google, and they all say the app can access my camera/take pics, turn on the microphone, makes unauthorized changes, etc. Fuck the FBI. They are on to more than just what they are asking. They know who that MF texted and called. They can get warrants to tap those phones.

I smell a giant pile of backdoor BS.

Doesn;t our gov't collect enough on us? Is that new $4B facility for data storage in Utah done yet?

Google is the worst offender regarding gov't compliance, but at least they are quite open about it. It's amazing the shit we'll agree to in order to have access to popular apps. Keep that in mind when you break the law, the lower the technology the better for us growers and dealers. I've got an old analog burner for the biz, the fanciest thing it does is text...

I think Apple should feel honored that the government asked for their help in the legal breaking of that murderous terrorist's phone. The data on that phone has been deemed legal evidence worthy of examination, if for no other purpose than to nail any accomplices. And possibly to save lives if the data reveals dangerous alliances.

I see no legal or moral grounds to justify Apple's non-compliance with the court order.

Really? What about the fact that if Apple creates this backdoor 'master key', then all citizens' phones' privacy can be violated? And not just by governments, but also by hackers and the like. This doesn't give you pause? I understand assisting our gov't to keep us safe, but it never stops there, does it? I guess I am not willing to sacrifice privacy/freedom for security. I think most Americans feel similarly...

some random poll disclosed people are divided on this topic and half think apple should coperate with the feds.
