I harvest a OG Kush plant, put it in a card board box and hung branches of trimmed bud to dry on strings.
Almost two days in I inspected the buds and found the biggest cola having bud rot at the top of it. I saw a small white patch with cobweb looking stuff, opened the bud up and saw discoloration. I cut off the entire top of the branch and threw it out. I then took all the remaining branches and inspected them and found no signs of mold. But I am worried about spores, so I gave them all a bath in hydrogen peroxide water solution and dried them in front of a fan like George recommends.
I believe the problem happened because the area is not fully sanitized and the temp got to low while drying. Humidity was about 55.
I now have them hanging in 80°f, 35-40% humidity drying. They are drying way faster than any previous harvest.
Sooo..i see no signs of mold on any of the other buds. I checked with a black light and the only green that showed up were small strands from string I used to hold up some branches during flower. Under a magnifying glass I see no signs. The bud looks bright and healthy. I'm just stressed about possible mold spores that I can't see. I should have looked at the moldy bud under black light for comparison or to see if it's even true the mold shows green.
Any suggestions?
I could just decarboxylation it and make butter. Would that be ok if there were some hidden spores?
Thanks for any help
