Outdoor Strains for Piedmont Region (SE)

I've been growing in the same region for awhile now and suggest taking a pair of posthole diggers and digging down at least half the length of the diggers. Hollow out sides of hole to open it up a little. I like to use potting soil enriched with chicken shit and homemade compost. If u use sand make sure its course sand so it will drain, fine grained sand will pack tightly and slow drainage. Then dig out top of hole
3' across and 18" deep and fill top of hole with soil of choice, then plant a nice sativa, preferably a type of haze which does well in this area. GOOD LUCK AND GOOD GROWING!!
Thnx for the genetics tips! Should I go with more early finishing (Oct) or late finishing (Nov) strains? When should the plants be started from seed for best results?

I usually start from seed somewhere around 2nd week of March inside a small greenhouse, then I transfer them outside about a month later depending on temperature and conditions. The longest day of year is June 22, so as long as u don't have to worry about hunters or hikers, almost any strain will have time to fully mature. Almanac is calling for wet spring and summer,so it will be wise to prepare to treat any fungal problems on regular basis. This can be a windy area at times, but if plants are healthy they're stalks and limbs will toughen up and can really take a beating

You will kill it with 200 or so gallon smart pots as opposed to going in the ground. Btw I grew up in the hills there before moving to the Bay Area. I hope u keep a journal. I'm interested in seeing some Appalachian grows again

Oh if I remember correctly folks I knew back then were pulling early oct due to the hella rains. So what's the consensus for him? Late or early

Why smart pots instead of inground; just aeration and drainage?

For sure gonna do a journal man
And def need a consensus on this, but for now I'm going with strains that finish like mid Oct or start of Nov. Here's the lineup I'm looking at right now, let me know what u think:
•(Ace) Bangi Haze
•(DutchPassion) Frisian Dew
•(GreenHouse) Super Silver Haze / Super Lemon Haze
•(RoyalQueen) Haze Berry / Amnesia haze
•(Dinafem) Moby Dick #2
(BarneysFarm) Blue Cheese Auto

You got it. Areation and drainage.
Possibly dig a 50 gallon hole and ammend with compost an nutrients but damn it man that's heavy duty work in clay. What is the top soil there 12-18". Idk there is a nice strip of soil coming outta the mountains running toward athens. Maybe ur in it. Smart Pot can be moved around as said earlier. It allows for more control. Dry out twice as fast or more. Depends how often you can check it and water.

Strains look good. I'm unfamiliar tho. Will try to look into them tomorow. I've only blazed blue cheese. Dank. But why an auto?

The blue cheese is like the only indica I chose, I chose mostly saliva strains since there is high humidity and lots of rain (easily molds) I figured I'd go with an auto so it finishes quickly and have less chance of mold. But now that I think about it, the rain/humidity is almost the same throughout the season so maybe auto isn't a good choice; what do you think?

I would personally run early finishing strains. First of October at the latest. I'm not sure about autos. When is it supposed to finish?

I don't think you'll have a problem with the rain during summer or early fall. It's mostly flash or short storms with high wind. They'll dry out. You want to avoid those extended days of rain/cloud cover and cool temps.

The blue cheese suppose to finish mid sept with 50/60 days flowering. And the problem is where I'm at these long rain storms happen throughout the year and I think actually peak in the warmer months. I picked some late flowering strains because cooler air temps could mean less humidity. Also picked some early ones to see how they are gonna do.

If your anywhere near me I'm sure u know how soaked ground is this year. It's at 98-99 pct saturation right now so I think I'm gonna put all my outdoor plants in bags just to try and avoid rootrot. Mold will probably be a big problem once they start flowering, but maybe the weather will cooperate in Aug&Sept. Plenty of soft rainwater is better than our groundwater though.

If your father comes down there and reads your laptop he's gonna beat the shit out of you.
nah, i leave the authoritarian style to the hitler wannabes of the world, like you.

Ignorant I s the last thing I am. As far as my children go, they are both strong, healthy blond haired, blue eyed children who wear the hat of white privilege like their father and mother.

Have a nice day.
