Skunk in town

Wow so as I was pulling up to my lot I was getting a strong whiff of some good dank and was extremely concerned that having it been day 2 of drying after I harvested that perhaps my smell was leaking past the carbon filter. The closer I get to my place it smelled less and less and smelled clean inside. However when I went back outside it didn't smell at all anymore. This wasn't the first time- other times I swore it was my neighbor's op, it's hilarious to be certain there's (I'd bet a pound) a few growers on my block in a state under prohibition.
Is it possible to be completely submersed in it and to forget the smell in less than 3 minutes even trying to smell it out? Is it possible that it's me even though I'm certain it's not? I've been having TONS of reasons to believe that my neighbor across the street is running a massive op and I guess it goes in and out of the entire outside part of my lot by the road right in between our two houses whenever they have their grow room open and I guess in those 2-3 minutes I imagine them closing the entry to their op.
Has anyone ever smelled stank on their property but could swear it was their neighbor? Or is it possible I become 100% accustomed to the smell unaware by the time I open my front door to smell nothing? Ive been real suspicious of this neighbor I wish I could catch em red handed on the down low lol

I'm always wondering about my own sense of smell. While I'm in my place I can't be sure, as I'm always here and my olfactory nerves must be saturated with the scent. But I can tell coming in from outside. I used to think someone else in my building was growing as I could smell MJ growing from a hundred or more feet from my front door, but I found out it was ME with exhausted carbon filters! I changed those fuckers quick, and no more smell anywhere. That was scary, I replace those fuckers every 6-8 months now. I'd feel really stupid sitting in a cell because I couldn't manage MJ scents...

Carbon filters are a joke.

Put an ozone generator inside of your carbon filter.. Thank me later

I find grows all the time. Just follow your nose.

Usually in six flats when visiting friends. It is really easy to tell the difference between smoked and growing weed. Small growers seldom worry about filters and get used to the smell. I don't think anybody really cares anymore.

I get this guy who sometimes helps me with the construction of rooms who doesnt smoke, to go walk around the houses where grows are from week 3/4 til harvest and whiff about. If the slightest whiff comes up we put a ouple of ona blocks in the exhaust. Ona blocks are the TITS.

I get too familiar, to the point I can't really smell weed until I'm up close

so I get a buddy to advise me!

and am always blown away as to how far he detects my weed

even under a blind test

so its back to the suburban camo

of piling shit loads of decaying lawn cuttings about

now that shit really stinks ...lol

good luck

I know there's a grow house down the street from me every time I drive by I smell dank, I was thinking about knocking on the door with a few clones and askin If they wanna trade
This was EXACTLY what I had in mind lol it would just be awkward as fuck if it was the neighbor next to them because they would be able to see me coming in n out across the street and end up telling the cops, that's why i feel like doing something like that but with just one mj petal from an fan leaf once i move out before august

I'm not exhausting directly outside in my case so that O3 buildup would probably be harmful to my lungs to my understanding, if I was exhausting directly outside that would be a legit way of securing the stealth of stanky ops

Shit I was thinking about doing something like that before the op because I imagined to be in your same case where I wouldnt be able to detect it after getting used to it, I haven't though in order to keep this thing closed doors to not have anyone be able to know where its going on, I don't trust anyone enough even blindfolded, they'll get too fascinated and ask questions that lead to blabber mouths, I might have one friend who might be cool enough to I just get paranoid involving ppl, Im going to buy that new febreeze line they got out heavy duty 2x odor elim. power and try it out as a bandaid. I only am using a carbon filter for the flower but the veg moms were stinkier than some of my flowers on my first run add up dangerous detectable levels, im going to flower the moms off (without them getting over 6 ft hopefully? lol >,<) and a few more clones and then scrubbing this place sparkly clean running a fresh carbon filter for a month without any plants I'd imagine my tracks would be covered

I'm in the same boat. I don't have any friends to ask, as no one irl knows about my grow. When you're leaving for good, you can buy or rent a powerful O3 generator and simply run it for 4-5 hours when you'll be out of the house. Those fuckers will kill any scent, they use them in hotel rooms to get rid of cigarette and other smoke odors. Just a few hours and the next guest can't detect anything. Just be sure nothing living is around them when they're on, fuck you up...

I used to use ozone. To make it work well, you need a plenum in the exhaust that gives a 30- to 60-second reaction time before the airstream is exhausted.
I find the modern carbon filters to be remarkably effective. I was prejudiced against them but i learned that they work really well if they are used intelligently. Fwiw, Tyler, I've used a Phresh ( together with another grower) for four years and it still is doing a perfect job! It was starting to fail, but tapping the bed back to evenness gave it over a year of extra life.

I still have the ozonizer and it is wonderful for cleaning up the ambient air after making some of my oh so odorous extracts.

I run phresh. They are good.

I ordered 16 pounds of coconut carbon from a hydro store. I'm going to build a filter out of a 3-5 gallon bucket. Use the phresh on my cab and the bucket to scrub the outer room.

Then I plan to buy the carbon filter for my air handler for the whole house.

I figure triple filtered should do the job.

you did what to add an extra year? Ive been running this one for 4 months. I whipped out and retried my smoke buddy carbon filter sploof after having it clogged a couple months back and strangely enough it works again without having to blow a lung through a bottleneck, probably wouldnt work a well with a carbon filter but I feel like trying that bongsmilie
