diy Cree LED project help needed

So I've decided on buying some cree led chips? I've settled on the CXA3070 @ 700mA @ 6500K? And the XM-L2 @ 3000K?. THe cxa's I was advised to use an HLG120, @ 700mA. The xm-l2 its calling for a couple mean well lpc60-1750s. Total there will be 22 leds on my setup. A total of 16 xml2's. And 6 of the cxa's. My question is this, I'm completely new to led and a bit of a DIY'er. So id like to build my own but want it to be able to run both veg and flower. So FULL SPECTRUM. Do you think the chosen leds would suffice for optimum growth in a 4X3 area? The light would end up being 36"x30 with the leds spaced evenly. I'm basing it off of growmause' diy led light on YouTube. His is for a 4x4 and he builds it to 36X36. I want a 4X3 coverage so my math comes to a light dimension of 36X30ish right? Do I need all the leds I chose or should I try and find color specific (nm?) leds versus the K spectrum identified leds. Any all help is appreciated.

Why do you want to run cxa and not cxb?
And why xml?
For a 4x3 you will need mini 12x30w = 360 or 12x50w maxi 600w
The best setup would be 1 cob sq/ft!
But 2 x 200w panel of cxb3590 3500ºk36V CD would be awesome! (For vegg and bloom!)

Bonjour! Well I'm very new to led and to growing in general really, I didnt really do my research. Found out cxa arr outdated so I will be trying cxb. And I have to check out some more links to get a grip on what everything is that is needed for a 4x3 area. Thanks for the input.

I agree with you...many info and possible setup to build!
Take your time because if you build it well and run it cool it could last 10years or more...!
If you never experienced hps you do not have to...lol...it is like an old sport car (hps) and a Bugatti Veyron!!! (Cob cxb3590! )
So you will be pleased with cob...even newbie can pull gpw in soil with cob...ask Brettsog...lol!

My light is 36x 30. I'd ditch the xml2s and the cxas and go with cxb 3070's or 3590's.

Cxb3590 will be the chip I buy. As far as driver, what should I look at as far as amperage? And is alibaba the only place that I can find an hlg240-1400? Would that run 5 cxb3590's in series? Or would I need another? And as far as that specific driver, is it up to date as far as there isn't something better or newer that will run the cobs more efficiently. I'm looking to buy something that will last and that isn't junk from some off company selling sub par components. I'm still very new to led design and what have you, but IMO, when you invest in quality components, they pay for themselves in savings eventually.

Multiply the number of COB: 5 by their volts: 36~. 180. If 180v is in the forward voltage range of the 240 driver. Then yes it can run.

Yes it can run 5. I have each side of 4 on their own 240-1750B. Straightroadelectronics.com
Ask for Julia Merrin and tell her airwalk from rollitup referred you. They should have drivers. But get B version for dimming my light is for a 4x3/4x4.
