MH or CFL for Veg?

Hey guys, Ive always used a 400 watt Ballast and a 400 watt MH for veg growth and size, branching and time frame (moving them to Flower after previous was harvested) If i decide to save money on my power bill and go with CFL which I have been using for clones, will the results change that much? How do CFL compare to MH?

Depends on how many plants you have 400w of cfl will cost the same produce about the same amount of heat and you will lose penetration

yeah definitely also consider a few other things the heat production from a hailed is much higher and youll have to deal with that come summer.. the next is MH lights tend to make the plant stretch more than a cfl will.. you can also place a cfl close to the plant. in all honesty i would run t-5 over CFL only due to the face the T-5 is brighter has a larger spreading i believe carries more lumens per watt.. you can basically run a 48" 4 bulb t-5 and be equal to running a 400 hailed.

yeah and also the t-5 produces something like 1/4 the heat of a hailed.. that may not be exact but its a lot less .. they can also be placed very close.. they really won't burn unless the leaves touch the bulbs.

theres ways to configure it some companies sell 36" t-5 setups.. theres also 8 bulb 24" t-5 setups that i believe stretch the 36 maybe 32" span either way it would cover a 36" tent veg wise depending on the amount of plants.

oh yeah the 4ft 8 bulb setups are only like 29" wide at most i think they are actually less... just look up the measurements when you look up models they will say

what brand? led is good in veg if you invest in a good light i have some friends here that have some killer ass new models ... but they are running 1000-1200 a light but veg wise they are killing it.. i have to be honest they really hold up in flower too.. these lights you can change the color spectrum to whatever you want from blues to reds you can tweak it all on a computer... I'm not a LED fan except in veg but i can't say anything bad about these .... let me see if i can get pics from him really quick cause i forgot the brand. they are out of the UK i believe.

I built the stinkbud 27gal veg totes and i want to put it in a tent with a t5. I can get away with a 3ft tent but then id have to use 2ft t5s. Otherwise a 4ft tent with a 4ft if it fits?
