I'm bumping this thread rather than starting a new one. Just looking for anyone out there that can help me decide what the best one is to go with, Our setup: DWC 1000w in a 12x12 grow room.

I ordered this. I got it in a couple days and I'm going to build a filter out of a 3-5 gallon bucket.

The 16 pound I listed is carbon pellet. They also have a 32lb box. The 16 pound was a 15x15x15 inch box.
For those that want to try or already use aquarium carbon. 52lb pretty cheap.

I'm not looking for a cheap filter, just a good deal on a better than average one that can clear a 12x12 room, preferably an 8 inch. Any thoughts?

the best deal on a carbon scrubber is anyone that matches the speed of your fan and u can refill
most scrubbers on the market are one time use.......i know of a 2 ppl in usa that makes a refillable one sold on rebay
so after 12/15 months instead of replacing the metal and all u just have to buy active carbon(7 to 14 bucks worth) ......dump out used stuff pour in new stuff .......the pre dust filter needs replacing too
the cost of it goes down compared to any other thing

they sell carbon filters .....they sell active carbon........they sell air polishers.........they have a dry bin
i like them a wife and husband team ....this is there job and take pride in the work ( rare thing)

Generally I'd say slightly oversize what your fan is rated at.
That reminds me someone recently told me that over sizing your carbon filter makes it filter less and smell more. .........Ah the internet, I'd really like to understand that reasoning because it makes no sense.
I've never refilled a filter with loose carbon. So I can't really comment on its worth. Thought about it, but its messy and I'm just too busy.

A PVC pipe with holes drilled in it. Put the pipe down in the bucket. The bucket will have holes. Put screen around the pipe and inside bucket.
Fill the bucket with carbon and put lid on. The pipe will come through the lid for duct to attach to pipe.
I'll get mine built in the next day or two. I'll take pics. I'll post them here and in my thread.

This is why I bought 4x12 filter to match my fan. I wish I would of bought a 8 inch filter for my 4inch fan.

we finally decided on an iPower ourselves, got it on Amazon for $216, it came in yesterday. It's an 8 inch and boy is this thing powerful! we plugged it in our dining room to give it a whirl and within minutes it cleared all the cig smoke and smell from me cooking out. It was amazing!! now we just have to install it in the tent and probably get some cotton sheeting to wrap around it to catch the dust so the charcoal will last longer.
The only downside, its a bit loud.
