I have a 2 x 3 x 5 tent. I currently have 6 regular beans popped. My goal is to grow 4 females.

Here is what I have so far.
4 - beyond dreams (northgenetics)
2 - girl scout cookies

My question is should I pop 2 more beans to raise the odds that I have 4 girls.

I have Smurf berries and tga 9lb hammer beans left to choose from.

As a general rule, half of sprouted reg. seeds will be male, so it would be a good idea to start at least twice the number u want to finish with.

You might want to do less strains and more seeds of less varieties. The lower the number involved the harder it is for statistics to be accurate. So you're much more likely to get 50/50 M/F with 20 seeds than with 2. When I'm searching for a keeper I pop 25-30 and I'm prepared to do it again if it's for my head! If I'm testing a new strain I'll go with 6-8 seeds. Sometimes they'll all be male others all female. It just so happens they're all males when I'm really interested in the strain. But those are the breaks.

Good point. I didn't want to use all that I had of one strain.
I hear ya. But if you get to the point where you have 2 males it's going to be around 8-10 weeks minimum from germination. So if it happens to the strain you want the most. 2.5 months have now passed and you're right back to the same spot you're at now.:bigjoint:

Ok another great point goldberg. Let me ask you this. What would you do if you were in my shoes? I want 2-4 girls. I am about three weeks in. Would you pop more or just ride these 6 beans out and see what you get?

I personally do about a 4:1 ratio

Once you get a girl, just pull clones off her before throwing into flower.

Since you don't have much space I'd probably wait to see what these gave you. This way you'll know which strains not to pop again if trying all strains is important. Then I'd think about everything said here the next time I popped beans. If you have a separate place for cuttings and felt like popping more you could. Then any females that can't remain in the tent for flower could be kept as a cutting for the next flower cycle.

You'll need that space anyway to keep cuttings from these seeds assuming you get female/s

It's my belief that any pot plant from seed needs veg time to see exactly what she can do. Now if you have cuttings from a mature female then that's a whole different ball game. Because it's mature at rooting.

@Bugeye i did 2 plants my first time. 5 gal smart pots. Vegged them for a good 6 weeks and used a scrog.

@GOLDBERG71 i definitely took notes on what was said to me. This small tent is going to be my veg tent. I'm going to get a 3 x 3 about 6 feet tall to flower. I should get it in time for this run. I do want to test strains out but a successful grow is more important than having a variety of stains.

Thanks for all the information people.
