i just had a pretty decent sized problem with using lime. it caused a bunch of nutrient burns. this was hydrated lime though, so its more concentrated. i wouldnt recommend using lime, unless your plants look slightly deficient in the ingredients in lime...
but maybe dolomitic lime is different
there's no problem with the method you are using, but it's my understanding the length of time the vinegar and lime will maintain the PH will be a few days at best. Proper PH chemicals will last longer.
okey dokey i read up on the vinegar thing and yes it doesnt keep ph acid for many days but you can treat every time you water but must only use a drop of vinegar per litre. couldnt find a problem yet with lime. cider vinegar has apparently got things in it that plants like but again to much can kill.
also, if you're worried about pH issues, just add some molasses to your water. i guess the bacteria that feed on it are also good at keeping a steady pH in the soil.
1 cup dolomite lime per 1 cubic ft soil, must be very fine , mix well. or 1/8 cup hydrated lime per 1 cubic ft soil, mix well and water.natural ph of 7, will always be acid building up because of nutes and salts deposited.im sure im talking rubbish, hey anyone know?
