OP, thanks for posting this. From the Highway 69 sign in your avatar, I would say we are from the same neck of the woods. I haven't ran into many Florida growers on RIU, so it's good to see some of y'all.

Me too. I have a few seedlings up already. I'm still getting light frosts at night, but I just couldn't stand waiting any longer. I'm running a strain that has stood the test of time in these piney woods for almost 30 years. It's Northern Lights crossed with an Afghani Skunk. My BIL did the cross in 1988, and the seeds he gave me were from 1996 or there about.

Awesome my brother. I have two Landrace Sativa strains in my veg cab right now one of which is Malawi Gold. All my preseason veggers are almost two weeks old right now I'll post a pic. The other strains I have going out are; afghani, Strawberry Cough, Strawberry Cough x Jack Herer, Strawberry Cough x Blueberry, Strawberry Cough x Durban Poison, I also have some 100% Sativas as well. Zulu skunk, Wild Thai, Crossroads, Great Northerner, and Grapefruit haze. Photoperiod is almost there man I can feel it in my bones

That is some lineup. I'm using all saved seeds from the 12 girls I finished with last season. This strain is known for not making many males, so I'm planning on running about 65 to 70, just to make sure I have some choices for breeding. My BIL only does about 6-10 plants a year, and he hasn't had a male the last three years. And going well into flower last year, I didn't have one either. You are a little ahead of me. Mine only have the first set of leaves still. I have to do everything outdoors, so I'm watching the length of day closely. I'm only at 11 hours 42 minutes, but up to 12 hours 30 minutes of visible light. Most of my holes are a good long walk, so I'm going to only start about 12 at a time. Although right now I have 21, 5 of them about a week older than the other 16.

You don't expect them to flower early being out already? IT really is good to talk to another fellow Florida grower. What was your average yield per plant last year?

I'm hoping they are too young to flower. But other than my 5 CP1 plants, I'm starting with the less tasty ones, just in case. Like today I planted 9 GV1 and 9 GV2 seeds. It was very heady smoke, but didn't taste as good as the others. If any of them screw up, I would rather it be one of those.Right on man right on!
My grow last year was a spur of the moment thing. I had stopped smoking and growing 11 years ago when my wife took a big job in a small town. Well, she is retiring, so I figured it would be alright to get back into the game. All my old strains had been stored in a farm freezer that died, and it was months before I realized it. I tried lots of the old seeds, but nothing popped for me. About late June or early July I ask my BIL for a few seeds. After going so long without growing, I was pretty skittish about having them too exposed. So I planted where there really wan't enough sun. Then I had 7 straight days of rain during harvest season. I had seeds sprouting in the bud so I had to pull them early. Between the late start, the lack of sun and the early harvest, my grow was unimpressive. I got an ounce or so each off the 4 plants in the CP patch, but all the others were less than that. Since my main goal was making seeds, I dusted all of them {except the CP patch} pretty heavy with pollen. Off everything else I made more seed than smoke.
This year I've dug bigger holes, used a soil mix in some of them, and put them where they will get more sun. But I'm still not going to be checking on them that often. So if I get 4-6 ounces a plant I will be happy. I have about 70 holes to fill, so that will be way more than I can smoke in a year. Again making seeds is a major goal of mine. Only two people know I'm smoking and growing again, so I can't ask my old mates for seeds. That is why I'm trying to pick some winners to breed this season. Once I'm happy with my seed situation I'll grow less plants and take better care of them. Hell, I'm hoping we will be a medical state in a few years anyway. I have a couple of places on the farm with lots of southern exposure. I can't even imagine what it would be like having it growing in your yard
How far down the state are you? As you can see by my daylight situation, I'm up north in the panhandle.

It looks like you guys have it going on this year! I have moved into a certain Capital City and live in a nice little neighborhood and I am unable to do anything outdoors this year. It breaks my heart. I am thinking of partnering with someone to do an outdoor grow this year. I have several Clones that will not fit into my tents, but it makes me nervous with another person knowing. My indo is looking great though. Keep up the good work guys and keep on growing.

Whats up? Is this thread still active? Floridian here, just got some seeds from seedsman and I grow outdoors (newbie) 2nd grow ever. I was wondering if i can start seeds in November and get a harvest before the spring (march)? Will the plant ever bud? Also, got some Jock horror, blueberry kush autoflower nirvana seeds and white widow seedsman autoflower seeds coming in, I plan to put outdoors so if you got any suggestions hit me up with a response. Right now i currently have 2 Kerala Krush Females in the early flowering stage out back they were freebies from Herbies head shop like 3 years ago. Anyways could use some advice/help from fellow Florida outdoor growers! Hopefully this hurricane coming doesnt hit!!!
You can start indoors? Usually you can start anytime after january depending on how monsterous you want them. But i Suggest to look up day/nigh charts For Your area. That gives you an idea Of Veg time vs harvest.

yeah, veg usually takes 6 weeks or so, if you look and see when you're going to start having 14+ hour days, you can plan accordingly

All plants outside now will flower. Your harvest time will depend on when you start to flower.
I'm up here in NW Florida, and I'm trying for a winter and a spring crop. I've been putting seeds in dirt as I chop. So far I have plants from two strains up and growing. As these are already outdoors, they will start to flower as soon as they reach sexual maturity (4-6 weeks). Not much of a yield this way, but it is more of a seed test than anything else.
For my spring crop I'm going to start popping seeds around Christmas. I will use lights to veg those until about mid January, then transplant outdoors. Will need to pick by mid March.
You need to know how many hours of daylight it takes to keep your strain flowering, then plan to have them finished by that date.

Hey awesome reply Sandhill. Unfortunately, I have no indoor setup, strictly backyard so I have to grow everything from start to finish outdoors for now. I am in the south FL area so I also have to keep things as incognito as possible. Right now I got this Kerala Krush outback and shes doing quite well. If you have any guess when she will be done flowering I would be interested in hearing any thoughts, I know what to look for but I am sick of waiting and would like an approximation date, also do you think that the flowering stretch is over? I am worried this sucker is going to grow over my fence. She started flowering around October 1st. Pictures are from today 10/23.
But besides that I just planted a Nirvana jock horror auto seed and 2 days later the cotyledons are out so i am quite happy with that as well.
Also here is a clone I took of the kerala krush it seems to be doing well after like 2-3 weeks.
If you all are interested I will keep you updated with photos as time goes by? Let me know. SFL 954.

About 4-5 more weeks looks like. I have found that by the time you see buds starting to form, they are just about done stretching. Are they still getting taller?

I am in Central Florida and did my first outdoor grow about 5 years ago. Planted some bag seeds from good green Mex in May directly in the ground in my back yard. Out of about 20 seeds, 3 thrived. Fed them Miracle Grow for Vegetables twice a week,. Fed crushed up Tums for Calcium. By August 1st, I had 3 beautiful 6 footers but one was a male. The next one was female then turned Hermie but I let it grow until the 3rd one showed female, then I killed the Hermie and smoked it. Not really bad. My lone remaining female grew 7 foot tall and wider than my spread arms. I fed it Miracle Grow Bloom Booster ( a whole jar over 2 months) and Molasses. The only problem I had was Green Caterpillars. Every morning I would go out with reading glasses and needle nose pliers and kill those green juicy buggers. I had to harvest on October 25th because my landlord put the house up for sale. That was about 3 weeks earlier than anticipated. I still ended up with 13.5 ounces of good trimmed bud and about 50 seeds. My new Land Race strain. Reminds me of the old Gainesville Green we used to get in the 80's. Keep it simple. Weeds grow great in FL!
