Thinking of converting my flower/bud phase to LED I currently use HPS. I have one plant (for now) in an area 4×2ft by 7 foot tall. I hear the buds are not as dense or as plentiful as with HPS can you please help! Lol :)

Poeple can test lights for a year to see if they like them or if they should suggest them but then new tech is out so what's the point. If you're happy with your light & you feel it's better then allot of crap out there, then by all means, share your opinion. If you ask here many will only suggest these vendors. That's great n all but when a guy suggested these vendors on a PM to me & I decided to get a light of my choice, he got all butt-hurt n decided to share with all, his opinions on my PM, that BTW, he welcomed me to send him, Mmmm!? Doesn't PM mean private or personal message? I don't know why some poeple here like to push so hard but what I do know is there's plenty of good companies out there. Some are here, some are not. That doesn't mean any light that's not here is junk.
Point being, if you're new to LED & need advice, sure post here but that doesn't mean all get a fair shake! Listen to the details & make your own decisions. When I ask here, the response is build your own or buy from a vendor here. That's cool n all but what if I or you, like something else. Does that mean it's crap????? I learned allot on RIU & still am bit some poeple are just one-way. I wonder if they all own the lights they suggest, cuz they'd have to own a dozen of the same Kind've white COB light if they did. Ok, enough. Just had to get that off my chest. Maybe your COB is bigger then mine, but who cares?

Lick my ballls....Butturt because you bought a trendy light for lots of money, while touting how you "understand" radiometrics. Fuck off kind sir, sell your swill elsewheres......There is at least ONE of youse a month...seriously its gets old after the 20th or so repeating....but whatevs :)

I first come in this threat about a month ago, and by now i already understood that you should have changed the title of it a long time ago, it's not a place to get advice on lights.. You should call it "If you are new to LED and need to see some advertising and butthurt sellers post here"

My respect for those who actually post info and help with the DIY, there are a bunch of guys here that deserve it.

Can somebody tell me if this heatsink for each of my CXB3070s if I want to cool them in a passive way is enough when I run them at 1400mA?

The option I have is:
Cooliance CML8001-52-10-101
Diameter: 80mm / 3.149 inches
Height: 52mm / 2.047 inches

Edit: What about this kind of a heatsink?
Fischer SK 508 100 SA
Wdith & Length: 100mm / 3.937 inches
Height: 25mm / 0.984 inches

Googled the name for the datasheet.
http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1056478.pdf

Yours is 3 degrees celcius temp increase per (heat)watt.
Your 3070s are at least 45% efficient at that current, so 28 heat watts.

28*3= 84 degrees celcius temp rise.

I would not advice that.
CXB chips can handle 105 degrees at that current but it's still very hot.

The Fischer SK 508 100 SA on the other hand has a thermal resistance of 1.75°C/W.
1.75*28 heat watts= 49 degree temp rise which is fine.

So if you're going with either I'd advice the Fischer SK 508 100 SA.

Thanks, do you reckon that these heatsinks could also handle the CXB3590s at 1400mA, 1050mA or 700mA? With or without a pc-fan attached to the heatsinks?

I'm completely new to the heatsink-calculation thing. Thank you for your input either way.

CXB3590 (the 36V version) will be fine with the Fischer SK 508 100 SA at 1400mA and lower. passive.
With CML8001-52-10-101 the 36V 3590 will be fine at 700mA. 1400/1050 would be pushing it.

With a CPU fan attached you can expect a massive increase in cooling performance.

No need to try and slay the good people here and their companies. If you don't think those units are top of the line leds then your fooling yourself. Go trust those other guys with no documented grows, just telling you how great their lights are.

Yeah it's a little discouraging to wade through the sophomoric bs to some substance. This thread, while valuable, is similar to
other threads that devolve into disservice. While I tend to not comment on the bs, this is ridiculous. If moderators could intervene here that would be great!

hello there, I'm growing in really small cab (18x55x28 cm) under 2 105W CFL, similar to these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2X-105W-2700K-E27-220V-Studio-Photo-Photography-Yellow-Warm-Light-Lamp-Bulb-CFL-/310982075050?hash=item4867f9e2aa:g:GakAAOSwewJTlrmN

I came across these led bulbs on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Power-SMD-LED-Grow-Light-E27-Plant-Lamp-Blue-Red-Hydro-Bulb-360-Degree-/161594241728?var=&hash=item259fc472c0:m:mw9U9b4q0slB2ma6z5RGpEA

would two of these be a good replacement for the two CFL I have right now?
I was thinking about either the 60W or the "54W High power" because those are the most powerful ones that will fit in my cab

Bonjour
Why don't you diy?
If you prefer a commercial panel buy a smaller but a good one you will pull more gpw with a good 200w cob panel than 400w real watt of mars!
