Never need to ph...i check my soil after i e cooked it for two months thats it...Yeah not sure about smart pots myself but i think they need to be above ground to benefit from the air pruning, the roots are probably just growing through the pot into the ground? But like ive said ive never used them and its just what ive seen on forums. Do you bother with ph?
As for the smart pots i buried it halfway up and put 4 inches of gd soil underneath for the roots if they went thru..im sure they have its a big plant for a 15 gallon
But you have a point for sure mate ...ive taken note of that.
