How to make the root grow better?

Hi, everyone, im back!
i was preparing for my passport for a while now im back to this lovely forum. I was running my grow tent for almost one year, i recently find the problem about the root, i find that some of the plant's root would not reach the bottom of the pot(16Liter) till i harvest it(60days for germ+grow),(67days for flowering), i mean the root was not grow completely in the pot. The roots grow sideways but downward, which causes the waste of soil recource. Anyone has idea about this problem? Please help or discuss this with me.

I just used Xtreme Gardening's Mykos and I'm blown away by the results. I transplanted the other evening and when I popped em outta the party cups, roots wrapped around and around and webbing in between, the whole bottom white with roots. I've never seen anything like it, being in a cup for just over 2 wks!

Air ring in the nottom of the pot with a layer of clay balls to cover it then your normal medium they love it.if possible have a fish tank pump to each pot,if your running a few you may wanna get a compressor

Its so embarrassing to see a young woman grow better weed than us guys, its a little hard for me to understand your problem so im not sure if this is the right advice but if you start in a small pot and gradually repot up into slightly bigger ones the roots will fill the soil better.

Yeah, becasue cup is a relatively small space, roots are easy to grow completely but the 16liter smart pot is a different situation.

I would agree, for your veg + flower time you could get away with smaller pots how ever you could also veg 2-3 weeks longer to give the roots time to fill the space, big root mass = big budd mass

Well yeah, give it 2-3 weeks to fill that 16liter pot after transplant. If you go from 5 liters to 16 liters, expect it to take even longer to fill the pot.

Here is my average timing for my pots. Keep in mind i use alot of rocks/perlite
12/12 from seed = 1 gallon pot
3 Week veg = 3 gallon pot
6 Week veg = 5 gallon pot
8 week + = 7-10 gallon pot.

Well, what I meant was, ive never seen a party cup fill with roots that quickly. Without the mykos, at 2 wks there's not much root development to even hold the soil together when you pop em out. But with mykos - wow! They come out one solid mass of roots. The point is not the size of the container but that the root development was so much more. I'm sure this will continue as you pot up - it's relative to the time their in the container and the container size itself. (A party cup for 2 wks compared to a 16 liter for 2 months)

Since using aloe vera too in cloning i am 100 % convinced that this gives you a far better root system,has a rooting compound,also has a feed for the first few week of veg,But to be honest has long has you have a airation in the medium then all good,If you are finding it hard to get stuff like perlite or lava rock then just pebbles,or i have used monkey peanut,shells they worked just has good

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but also should be noted to NOT overfill or pack your soil too tightly in containers.

Too tight and roots will struggle to expand. Too loose and they'll dry out.

Water should be able to flow through the containers fairly easily as well. Water should have a nice slow flow through the medium. It shouldn't pour out the bottom nor should it settle on the top soil and go nowhere.

Also, in early seedling/veg stage, less is more when dealing with water. Use minimal amounts of water and don't water until the soil is nice and dry. This will force the roots to search for water.

For nutes. Try using a kelp/seaweed extract with your water. Kelp is amazing for root health and development

Your pot size is fine - don't change.

Mr. bak3d above has given the same thing I was going to say....Kelp Extract or better yet - Kelp meal blended in the soil!

The use of myco's is a great idea......they also come from composted cow manure and earthworm castings. A little "sugar" delivered in the form of a bit of molasses now and then will feed them (myco's) and keep them going nicely.

I used organic honey next to rootex.. Honey won!!

Also a great perlite substitution is rice hulls.. Should be easy for her to find considering it's China..
