The HLG-120H-C1050 can run 4 of the 36 volt cobs each, so 2 for 8 cobs, just under 300w total.

20 gauge will work, just make sure the wire jacket is rated for high voltage. Often the smaller gauge wire will be rated for low voltage applications. Even 16 gauge wire can be found with low voltage rating.

I was going to run 4 3590 36v on two heatsinks to total 8 cobs. Thanks for the driver recommendation I know growmau5 uses one driver for 8 cobs like I want to run them I need to find out which one he uses. If I knew how to like everyone's post from my phone I would you guys are very helpful thanks. Also thanks for the heatsink recommendation because I was a little stumped there

There are three drivers you can use immediately. The HLG-185H series . Look at the C700, C1050 and C1400, The C700 will run your 36v Cob's at 350-700 mA running at the 64% efficiency. Using the C1050 you can run between 500-1050 mA. for 56% efficiency, or you can use the C1400 for 700-1400 mA for 46% efficiency. I am using the C1400. The C1400 can drive four Cob's 71v-143V. it takes two drivers to run 8 Cob's either way with any of the 185H drivers. You can use higher rated rivers such as the HLG-240H-C1750 or the HLG-240H- 2100 both provide higher amps to drive your Cob's harder. The C700 drives them the softest, and the C1400 drives them harder. The C1750-C2100 will drive them hardest. Soft indicates cooler temps, and harder indicates higher temps. I hope this helps. peace. I like t use 18 gauge solid core,a s it delivers amps best. I also use braided for remote wiring of drivers and power supply's.

im pretty new to the whole diy led. i am in the process of building a 200w bar now running 4 72v cxb3590s and an hlg 185h c700b, is a 100k pot ok to use and can the driver be ran with not pot hooked up?

Also if you wanna cut your bill down a bit, you could run 2 strings of 4 cobs each from one of the HLG-240H-c1750b drivers, each at about 875mA. Put each string on a single 42" 1.8" heatsink and throw a fan in the middle and youd be golden. Get the dimming driver so you can turn things down if you want...This way if one string fails, the other should keep going at full power, but if this happens, youll be glad if you added a fan or two to that heatsink!

I just told you how to do this in my post above. Run 2 parallel strings of 4 cobs each on a single 240H-c1750b, each string would get half the amps so the cobs would be running at 875mA, which is pretty sweet for efficiency and you can always dim then down for even better. Thats about the best you could do with currently available drivers I think....

You could use a 240h-c700b and run up to 10 cobs in a single string at 700mA, but if you want to use 8 cobs, you will end up leaving some power unused....

I wouldn't. 2 drivers would be far less voltage running through each which makes things safer to work with. If you have 2 drivers and one goes down, at least you've still got light in your grow space until you replace the other. Having 2 drivers also gives you more flexibility as in, you might only want one set of cobs on during veg or you can take one set of lights and move them to another area. Can't do that when everything is hooked up to one driver.

True good point. I'll prob run two drivers because it's safer and like you said you aren't bound by everything wired together. But that just mean more money for another driver. I know goin diy is the way to go but that upfront cost is killing me.

That was why I went down the vero route. Cheaper startup cost. Upgrading as I go. If it was cost effective I would run one per driver but it works out too much upfront cost.

I just read your thread with the three vero light looks good. Maybe I'll go that route. Idk I'm in a pickle

38.2w per cob. Almost 1000PPFD in your grow space.

It equals out to almost the same PPFD in that space but I end up buying 2 less cobs. The 240w drivers are about the same price as the 185w drivers so it will cost me slightly less for the same PPFD.

That setup sounds a lot better and cheaper lol. I'll prob add two in later I was gonna run 8 3500k then I'll add in 2 or 3 4000k after a grow or two
