Is 1514 lumans LED light enough?

Just remember when pulling thru a carbon filter you loose some power from your fan so that small booster fan may not be enough, I would suggest getting an inline fan if using a carbon filter. and like kmog said you can use the booster as an intake as well, you need 1 intake 1 exhaust at least.

This.

I think he mentioned having an inline fan...? No idea lol, but I was suggesting to run that as a booster in series with the filter or on its own with the light to clarify.

IMO passive intake is the way to go, just add more exhaust and make sure you have enough intake surface area to cover so no negative pressure. :)

Can I use this method for my grow tent IFF I don't buy the cooling light hood? And have the carbon filter outside the tent sucking out all the hot air and blowing out the air through the carbon filter would that still work for the smell as well if I were to do that and buy that fan in the link to amazon you sent me to suck in cool air from the outside of the room and fresh cool air circulate inside the grow tent? I'll keep the duct as close as I can to the HPS light so that it basically immediately sucks the hot air the light is admitting into the tent. Just a thought. Also I'm going to have two basic fans house fans blowing at the plant as well

You'd be better off with both fans sucking out of the tent. And I'm pretty sure carbon filter work better when you pull air through them rather than push. Hence the pre filter being on the outside.

IMO the best way to vent is how I showed you. I would spend the extra $15 bucks and grab the cool tube even if you're not going to ventilate it properly right away.

If you're definitely not getting any sort of air cooled hood all fans at the top pulling the hot air out. Intake goes at the bottom where the air is cooler, exhaust at the top.

OK I'll take your word for it its only $15 more I'm just being a Jew about my money lol but I'll get the cool light instead. Now here is my next question the hole to connect the duct to the light is 6" but my carbon fan is 4" can I get away with some zip ties and zip tie the 6" duct to my carbon filter and fan? Because I already bought the fan and that will be here tomorthe 4". Also can I just buy a 6" carbon filter to connect to the duct because all I bought right now was the fan seeing that i m not connecting the 6" carbon filter directly to the fan now?

Rechargeable batteries ftw. Pretty sure you could hook up a 5v power supply to each torch and it would work fine

Go to Home Depot and you can get a reducer for like $5. But get 6" ducting.

Quick question willl the HPS tube with small wings work just the same as this light? I know its in a box with a glass casing on the bottom but would it be honestly ALOT better to get this one instead of the fan cooling tube reflector with small wings HPS light or would the tube pretty much serve the same purpose? Basically what's the pro and con between the two with a hood or small wing reflector? I'll buy the hood if it honestly makes the difference

A sealed hood will run cooler but the glass will block light output.
Well either way I'm buying either the fan cooled tube or the fan cooled hood because I want things to run cooler but what I'm trying to figure out is if it would be a better investment to buy the cooled hood or the cooled tube I'm just trying to figure out if there is honestly a big difference over the cooled hood then the cooled tube

Yeah grab that one lol. The hood just gives a better footprint than the tubes ime. The tubes o think deal with heat a bit better as they are much closer to sealed than the big vented hoods. I think light transference doffers between the two due to the material difference as we'll.

I personally would go with a vented hood over a cool tube, but this is another things that's just my opinion.

You can also do very with a cool tube.

I just walked in the door from cashing my check so I'll just buy the tube right now and did some research on the tube and hood and honestly it goes both ways between the two what ima do is just buy the tube right now because I'm only doing DWC with one plant so I think the tube will do the job and if I think it doesn't really do the greatest job I can always upgrade to a hood and just transfer bulbs or buy a hood attachment to my tube either or I'm sure the tube will serve the same purpose I only have a 8sf tent so I think it will be fine for now to at least get my first grow going. Thank you for all your help it was very much appreciated if I have any more questions I'll gladly hit you up

@Tylerhonky the hood would be best but that tube will work just fine and you probably will never know the difference. The important thing is that you air cool it. That would be a bitch in the summer without air cooling. You're definitely on the right track brother. Good move taking advice before pulling the trigger on the led. You saved yourself a lot of heartache.

It's nice to see this thread with legitimate advice being given and taken with no insults or arguing. This is what it's all about.
