Growing autos outdoors offseason in aus subtropics? advice

Hey im new here, i was wondering what peoples thoughts/experiences were with growing autos outdoors offseason in australia or even any info on offseason auto oudtor growing would be great, or do autos even do well outdoors? I have a small greenhouse but also lots of uncovered ground to utilise as well
I dont have much experience so any advice is much appreciated. Im getting ready for my first decent grow when the season hits but i thought i would see what my options would be for growing offseason so i have nugs pretty much all year, if possible haha, thanks and be kind

if you want to do in offseason I would get them started asap I spose so they can get a gd start in the first month before cooler weather and a lot less light are here
how many is worth it? 10 or 12 autos may be a gd return for smoke till harvest proper next season?

Thanks ruby fruit i dont have any autos at the moment but i was just sussing if it was worth it, and i think i might give it a go even with a few, ill see how i go, but thats another questiom in itself, what auto strain would be best for my climate? I have no clue haha and because i moved from vic to nsw i got to get used to a whole different evironment so im still sussing all my geological dat i might even be able to grow some little fat indicas off season cause its wet/dry seasons here so it will be dryer in the offseason so that may help with bud rot which big dense buds are prone too, what do you think?

I think it's best to run autos when you daylight hours atlre at a peak instead of at a low. Autos like lots of light. I ran my outdoors to be in peak of flower development on the summer solstice and they ripened very quickly after that.

Ok thanks for the advice and input bcdigger, i was wondering if that would be an issue, i may even have a go at some point for research purposes what would one suggest for offseason growing? any location/climate specific advice would be great thanks

I cant really give much advice ive only ever done 2 autos for a return of 1/4 oz of each one lol

Ya I've never run an off season crop as my climate doesn't allow for it sorry mate. I just started running autos last season for an early crop without light dep and will be running them again this year.

SE QLD here and a couple of local old timer hippies have hinted that it's actually a better time of year to grow up here. They're a bit loopy though, so take that one as you see fit

I'm from vic originally and there's not a hope in hell you're growing outside in winter down there.

My property is terrible for winter sun unless I grow near the road so I have not tested the theory yet. But it makes sense. Our winter months are the best for sun. High pressure systems pump cool, dry SW winds and the sky is picturesque clear every day. They don't call it the dry season for nothing. I have noticed the light hours don't seem to change much here. Not as much as down south, that's for sure. Only thing you'd need to worry about is any overnight cold snaps. A greenhouse would help with that significantly

If you got the direct winter sun hours, I say give it a whirl mate and let us know how it pans out

Thank you outlier. Im in north nsw. And ok thats interesting, because i was thinking that beause its wet/dry seasons and if there is enough light then why cant it work, thats also taling into consideration possible frosts and things like that, so thats why if i did try it off season i would pit them in a greenhouse, it keeps unwanted things out too (cats, dogs, chickens, etc). So if i got enough daylight to produce some decent autos off season that would be awesome, but im still learning about my new local environment so ill get as much info as i a can and pick some good autos and have a go, it might be something i'll try next season but if i get things together quick enough to make use of the maximum sun i can, then i will have a go at it and let you guys know the results, but we'll see i suppose. Anyone know of any autos that would be worth trying outdoors (in a 2x4 greenhouse)? And thanks for the info and help bro, greatly appreciated

And yeah growing in vic offseason outdoors would suck, never attempted it, i have done a bagseed plant offseason (was inside the house on a north facing window sill) and it got quite frosty nugs and produced alright (not sure on exact amount) for a "dwarf" plant hahaha i tried it to see how it would go haha got to 30-40cm

Ok thanks ruby fruit, ill put that on the shopping list a mate i know who grows said northern lights would be a good strain to grow, not offseason specifically but he said it was a nice yielder and great smoke so i think that would be a strain i would be interested in trying for this experiment cheers mate

I liked auto chemdog from auto seeds. It was a freebie x 2 and they were solid donkey dicks. Didnt weigh em but they were pretty dense about size of a tennis racket handle dry. Plus nuggets around base.

Has anyone tried flash seeds? They have a decent promotion on and have some cool looking autos (like the Purple Sirius, like it literally looks like a beautiful flower in the pic haha) at a decent price and was wondering if anyone has any info, i thought i may as well ask while where on the topic of autos haha

I cant really talk bout autos ive done 2 only..la diva and a dark devil ..both only got me a huge 8 grams although they were done in the offseason the dark devil was a really nice smoke n purple bud

Ive only done what autos were sent to me as freebies. Dont know sh*t about them, sorry. I wouldnt purchase them personally just sticking with photos, but I am basically even time all year. I don't have any long days or cold temps or long nights
