I use spinosad for thrips. Works awesome.
I was surprised. I got mites on my last grow. I guess its darn near impossible not to with the way I live. I hunt, fish, hike, grow my own food. I'm around or playing in dirt all the time.

I caught them before it become an infestation. Two foilar treatments and I used it with a couple of waterings.

A good silica product helps the plants resist the mites in the first place. I use diatamacous earth every time I amend or reamend. I don't think you can use too much. I mix it a couple cups to every cubic ft or so. Sometimes more. I've been using it for a while and its starting to work better as it takes time to break down.

It also deters other pest from your soil like fungus gnats.

I dont use DE. I grow in coco and I always have a few fungus gnats but not many or enough to bother or be an issue. I am the same as you, hunt, hike, fish, camp, grow my own veg, have pets etc... I have only had them twice and caught them early and used the organocide in no more than 2 applications.

I like/d it because it works on many things as well as it is mostly fish oil so the plants like it too for the nitrogen as well as a leaf wash. It doesnt smell the greatest, but I like to fish so it brings back memories of fishing along the rivers as a child in the midwest lol.

My garden plants love it too. It worked great getting rid of aphids on my tomatillos and pepper plants. I actually use it as a foliar feed too.

Silica is a great cheap tool to have in the arsenal. My branches and stalks are thick and rigid. So much so that supercropping is tough to do.

Barneys Farm Blue Cheese has some bomb phenos. Dank, sticky and great yield. Their Amnesia Lemon is also pretty dank. Just not the best yields.
I like Big Buddha's Blue Cheese better.....The thing is that BC is not a commercial cropper....
Dr Greenthumbs Ghost cut OG and his ECSD are great! Commercial AND stash quality!

I think I'll give his GCOG a try next, just harvested the OhZone but way to many fuck ups to give an honest critique. The thing that grinds my gears is why do breeders (some not all) throw like 30-40 different strains out. Why not work on a select few and stabilize them into something special. White Russian was one I loved that was stable with almost identical pheno's, seems to be unavailable now. Do they do it in hopes that a couple will stick, I just don't get it lol.

I'm the same but never had them since switching to hydro, or fungus gnats either. It was the gnats that forced my hand to go hydro as I just got sick of them getting all over my nice bud and up my nose lol.

I found them to be weak, hit and miss, and really nothing special, had a couple hermie. They may have one or two that are ok but haven't found one yet. Don't be a fucking asshole dew boy!!! Don't question my ability when I've been growing for longer than you've been alive. I guess it just takes something a bit stronger than mutt strains to impress me. This from a guy who didn't know what an auto was....ok lol.
Dew boy lmao

yeah ryan i did 10 of the so called best strain Critical Kush, and I am an experienced grower for the most part... always learning more... but after trying barneys farm critical kush i will not be ordering shit from them again. all 10 plants were trash, and the smoke wasnt A+, compared to dinafem, or DNA genetics, or reserva privada (same shit) but the best shit ive grown so far was HSO blue dream and reserva privada strawberry banana. ive got about 15 grows under my belt

Critical was a mid grade smoke that produced well but not anywhere near top shelf. Like I said they may have a couple of good ones but who wants to try 30 to find one lol. And FYI I have about 200 grows under my belt lol.

Well after some shit luck ive decided to order new seeds. I got some in my library but it's time for more.... I am looking for a strain to grow for commercial use and good quality still. And a strain to grow for personal use with crazy quality. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Please lmk asap gotta get this shit in action. Will be ordering from attitude. Pissed off ak 47 from serious seeds is always out of stock. Have had good success from reserva privada and dinafem. Fuck barneys farm tried their shit it all sucked. Please let me know your input.... thanks!!
First let me say, grown properly as per the strains requirements,Barneys Farm has some pretty good genetics. Ive been a commercial grower since the mid 80s - Ive seen the best and the worst.

Your mite problem is the same one that's been around for a couple million years. That being said controlling them is the best anyone will achieve. The little bastards smell nitrogen given off by plants. Dead leaves, stressed plants, poor ventilation, ect all sound the dinner bell for them.

They hide any where and every where. In electrical outlets such as wall plugs, timers, behind drywall, on your clothes, and ultimately on your plants. So keep every thing clean and vacuumed.

There are three things that kill mites without mercy and none will hurt you or your plants.

Dish Detergent (table spoon per galloon of water) Breaks down the outter protective wax coating on the two spotted spider mite. Adult, juvenile, and eggs are destroyed

Cayenne pepper (table spoon per gallon of water) Cayenne pepper attacts the mites central nervous system. Adult, juvenile, and eggs are destroyed.

Water. Mites hate water. Mostly destroys eggs and makes their day very crappy.

Add a table spoon of cayenne, table spoon of dish soap, to a gallon of water. Let it stand over night. Strain it through a coffee filter and spray your plants and surrounding area. I would suggest early in the plants morning. Under leaves, stems, top of soil - nice fine spray. Repeat a day latter. Further spot treating as required. Do this before your plants show buds- best during veg.

During flower stage some lady bugs will help if needed.

Hope that helps

I have heard that giving the plant a good wash with really cold water will also get rid of them. Thanks god I have not dealt with them in years :).

fuck pesticides. Mantis Botanicals from amazon. Buy the concentrate and dilute it yourself. Organic and works like a charm. I battled mites once, now i just spray on the soil as precaution. Its so safe i sprayed it in my mouth just to be sure.

i ended up just getting rid of everything, cleaned the shit out of the room bleached the walls and moved the plants with mites outside its early to move them outside here on the east coast if they survive they survive but if they don't whatever, got a bunch of new packs of seeds coming in, anxious to try out serious seeds serious happiness, and dinafems blue cheese. @ weedhound I did exactly what you had posted and all of the mites seem to be gone, ive been checking everything religously so far so good. currently have 3 super sour diesels going, 1 strawberry banana, and one dinafem bubba kush. today im harvesting dinafems strawberry amnesia, and barneys farm acapulco gold. i am impressed with the acapulco i must say, but that is the only impressive plant i have seen from barneys yet. I did however pop one last bean i had of the barneys critical kush so we will see how it ends up, it just broke the soil, along with a critical mass cbd i figured i would fuck around with.

also got some blim burn freebies, excited to try their nyc diesel x jack herer, also got a critical auto, and a cindy 99, we will see how they perform. as for barneys farm so far have only had good experience with 1 plant out of 11, so hopefully this last critical kush bean will change my opinion on them. also got a tangie seed from reserva privada off my buddy, am waiting to start it until the other seeds arrive though. as for dinafem everything ive grown from them has been A++, their O.A. strain is so good i ordered another 3 pack to see if i can find any more special phenos. I have done autoflowers from them aswell and I couldnt even tell the difference in quality from a normal photoperiod. I did their blue cheese auto in the past and it was A+. so I also got a 5 pack of their photoperiod blue cheese so i can mother... not to mention their bubba kush had buds the size of my fore arm... and im not a small guy by any means. I did lose a decent amount of good genetics to those fucking mites but will replenish shortly. glad my second veg room was not effected. sucks to have all this empty space now but in time i will get everything full again...

Umm. So what if you had been wrong?

I've got this mystery bottle of stuff if you wanna try that too. :bigjoint:
Well that's easy to answer.
I'm never wrong.

Hahaha jk, it says safe for use around kids and pets and up to harvest day right on the bottle. I don't give two fucks if it kills kids but I have a dog that I wanted to be absolutely sure it wasn't toxic before i sprayed it everywhere. I'm alive and I think my IQ went up a few points.

Thanks for the new options. But my Barnerys BC pheno is the bomb. Great yields and top shelf smoke. Super easy to clone. Granted over the last 10 yrs I have probably popped 50+ beans. All fems and most everyone was good smoke. Some better than others. Found this mother plant about 2 yrs ago. But always looking to try some new beans. I will check a few of those you recommended next time I order. Thanks again....
