Growing autos outdoors offseason in aus subtropics? advice

would anyone be able to suggest some nice fem strains to try for my onseason crop? i would be interested i hearing your suggestions, cause im worried that humidity might limit my choices (no big chunky dank nugs )

Check out banghi haze and some northern light crosses..also ace seeds and dutch passion seed companys have a lot of mold resistant strains
Colombian and thai strains should be ok to you would think
I think cole train and jack herer may be ok for mold but only from what ive read not grown

Also anything with afghan kush bred should be ok for a try

This is my 2nd year growing autos, last year I grew during the season when the light hours were pretty much peakin out and I got a QP off a plant with a few genetics I ran.

Right now, I have a 15 plant auto greenhouse grow, which you can check out in my journal under my sig.

They are 30 days old now and this is technically an offseason grow cause I'm barely passing 12 hrs a day tomorrow and I can see a huge difference in growth for the extra 2 hours. Since you're just doing this to have some pregame smoke then why not, I'm sure your expectations aren't too high.

If you can get some extra auto seeds though or if you can't, you should at least save a few to run when the sunlight hours are peaked at, you'll be glad you did.

ok that was GREAT!! that helps me get a better idea of what im dealing with, and its good to get a perspective of what the climate is like this far up and of your experience with it im starting to like this climate more and more as the days go on!! haha thank you for the great post outlier gotta love aussie weather!!! except for vic, its bullshit down there, you have to bring 3-4 different styles of clothing with you wherever you go because the weather can change so damn quick you need to be able to go from flip flops, shorts and a singlet to uggies, trackie pants, jumper and a beanie or you will freeze to death, or the opposite, you go out with warm clothes on then it gets hot out of nowhere and then you gotta go and change into shorts and a singlet, its crazy, im just glad i get to enjoy this lovely climate up here

i think i will have a good chance at producing some decent results with outdoors autos in offseason, but thats yet to be seen haha, but this is the situation so far, im 100kms inland from the coast in north NSW, noting major blocking any light from getting to the plants, i have great water supply, im currently working on amending the soil (i have hard clay on my property) so will have good soil when it comes time to plant, i will have a greenhouse (only 3x2m) which will help with extremes of weather, i put my greenhouse on the highest part of the hill on the property and it is at an altitude of about 300m so it helps with cold temps as well as the greenhouse. so i may be able to produce some good results. im excited to see how it goes when it comes time to execute the auto offseason outdoor experiment

It's a beautiful part of the world up here. If you can handle the summer months, the rest of the year certainly makes up for it. We are just about to hit April my favourite time of year. End of the wet season/start of the dry. Day temps about 25-26c, night temps actually start feeling refreshingly cool (but not cold). By about Anzac Day I'm sure you'll know what I mean.

I hear ya there on the 20 seasons in one day down south. I have relatives on the south coast of vic and I refuse to visit them in winter. Even in the middle of summer you need your snow gear on standby. Went down there once with only QLD attire (in the middle of summer) and well, let's say I'll never ever be doing that again... Haha!

Yeah the night air is getting cooler, its a nice change from this summer/wet season heat
I got a hygrometer for the greenhouse just to roughly see what humidity and temps are in there
I just planted an OG kush fem, 3 white widows and 2 afghani's in the greenhouse, i got the seeds as a test order to see wether they would arrive (i have another order on the way as we speak) and thought i would chuck em in and see what happens haha (i love experimenting) i will get some photos soon. i might get another greenhouse so i can have a few more going, i might get a bigger one this time
I just had a random thought, would it be possible for a plant to adapt to lower than normal light hours, like a specially bred offseason strain or something, or could a plant adapt to growing offseason and eventually prefer those conditions and thrive just as good or close to an on-season plant ?

I am from Hawaii, autos suck in the subtropics - especially in short season. This is because they require long daylight hours to amount to anything respectable. Best option is to invest in a LED grow light and keep clones of a short flowering mold resistant strain under 18 hours and send them out to flower in the natural lighting. I have a few time tested outdoor strains at my site www.moldresistantstrains.com

Jared's suggestion is something I have considered myself. Clone/veg photos inside and throw them outside to flower. Might be a better option than trying to mess with < 12hrs of light outside. You're sort of at the mercy of how the strain handles the reduced light hours, intensity etc... I can't help ya sorry mate there either with the strains. Trial and error may be the best bet here
