When do you start counting the flowering cycle?

So usually after 4 weeks you turn to 12/12?
Bro you can veg as long as you want with regular seeds to get the size you want. You get to choose when to flip the lights to 12/12-11/13 or whatever you choose and they will start to flower or throw out ball sacks. There is no time rule for when to flip the lights to bloom schedule. With seedlings in the proper soil, that are properly watered and healthy will start to flower within two-three weeks if they are started off under a 12/12 schedule.

SPLFREAK808,

In regards to 12/12 from seed, when would you count the start of flowering?
When vegging, it seems many start counting from the flip.
When 12/12 from seed is it from first pistol or from sprout seeming that it is on a 12/12 cycle?

Cheers

12/12 from seed would be counted at 2 weeks after sprout. This only works if the seed starts off under 12/12. If it starts at 16/8 or 24/0 it will take a week or two longer

I count from when I flip 12/12 if it says 8 weeks I'll check it in eight weeks with a jelwers lope if ready fine down it comes if not I wait to its 50% milky 50% Amber .

I think people want a method of gauranteed maturity for knowing on the spot not the 6-8 days minimum it would take of drying out a sample...plants cannabanoid levels can change a lot in 6-8 days and smoking wet weed is not preferable

Well brandawg92 that's prolly why people were gettin pissed cuz scientificaly the timing of that method confuses its usefulness....coming from the youth!does any one understand where I'm comin from?

Thanks this is actually my first time of experimenting with 12-12 from seed and I was curious about that specific factor.appreciate it

Learning what I have, switching to flower is going to cause a growth spurt, some will grow just a little, others may double or triple in height. So taking that into account and the current size of my plant, that's how I choose when to transition to flower.

From there, I don't countdown the days to harvest. I just count the days of life. Each strain is a little different, each growing environment is going to be a little different. With all the variables that go into a grow, I look at the "flowering time" as a guideline and not something set in stone. I got a microscope, check the trichs from different parts of the plant. Depending on the high I'm looking for I might take some when they are mostly milky, or wait until they're mostly amber.

Is this a rule of how to do it, nope. Just the way I do it for my grows. To each their own and I really don't care what ya think. lol

I think a lot has to do with personal preference. ....l like mine 50 % clear and 50 % milky......also I like to dry mine right before the snap of stem then paper bag for couple of days then in jars.....and burp....

What is the cheese cloth for?

Idk, in my opinion it is close to what most breeders say. Growing conditions play a huge part in the duration though. Just my 2cents
Probably to keep the soil in. I don't see the point in that when air pots and smart pots would accomplish the same thing for less work and the same amount of money.

Oh, I use carbon prefilter pads in the bottom of my pots to do that, wasn't thinking....just extra stuff i have sitting around

First of it's not cheese cloth its screen I had left over from a project before and it's to keep soil in .... The texpots or smart pots they tend to get brittle and stain.. But we all have our way and that works for me that's all that matters...and I can use my pots over and over so at the end you'll be buying new smart pots or texpots cloth in a couple of grows while mine last for way longer.

This months skunk mag has an article by the rev. If I read it right he starts his flower in this fasion. His veg room runs 19/5. He triggers them with 18/6. For two weeks he blasts them with HID as T5's are weak sauce. He then bumps it into flower @11.5/12.5. I believe the article advocated a 20% bump with this regiment. Just changed the timer on the Harvest master so the ship is taking off..
