first time grower, seeds won't sprout.

Ok so I'm growing for the very first time. medical reasons for my mom who is sick.

first off I bought seeds from gorilla seed bank but they were caught by customs, I emailed gorilla and they sent another batch. This second shipment came thru. It was 20 super iced grapefruit seeds feminised, the seeds looked pretty small and most of them were light green, and they didn't hav those tiger stripes I see on those fancy seeds.

So I took 2 and placed them in water for 24 hrs, I used water that I left out overnight to evaporate the chlorine. The seeds cracked so I placed them into a coco coir medium with half perlite. And I placed the pots under a VHO t5 4x2 light fixture. About a foot away. Those seed never sprouted. I watered once daily to keep the soil a little moist but nothing. I tried again with another 2 seeds same thing. So I tried the paper towel method and eventually got one seed to sprout after playing the crack seed with the root sticking out in a soil medium of peat Moss pro mix and manure. That's the only seed that actually sprouted, some didn't even crack after being in the water. I hav about 6 more seeds that I haven't touched yet. The current plant was doing ok up until I gave it advanced nutrients parts a and b. I fed it last night with a weak mixture (less than the stated amount on the bottles ) and this morning the leaves turned Brown. Like the entire leaf, the tips are still a little green. So I gave it some plain water to flush. Don't know if it will survive.

P.s. everyting I know was from what I read in the net, this is my first time growing.....

And the common problem with new growers is over watering and loving it to death. Sounds like the lime green seeds were to inmature...Id inquire about that. Next time you pop seeds , put them in the soil 1 inch down and give them a half of a measuring cup of water right on the seed. 2 days later, if dry give the same a mount. After it sprouts start watering around the outside of the small pot so the roots can go seek out the water. Pot should dry out in 2-3 days...thats about how much water you need to give them...if its taking longer to dry out , then its too much water, back it off. If its drying out faster, up the water a bit. edit: absolutely no nutrients yet

Got photos of the soil or seeds and the one that did sprout?
Lime green seeds doesn't sound like they were mature enough, probably got taken off the plant to soon. So those aren't probably going to produce.
Over watering is usually the earliest mistake a new grower makes. It's crucial to wait until the soil is dry. Don't go by what the top soil looks like, it might dry out but where the seed/root are it could still be wet.
When I germinate, I drop them in a small plastic 3fl oz cup fill half way with water. Once they sink I put them in my soil, then loosely cover with plastic wrap.
Another thing, don't rush the first feeding, another big mistake.

What size measuring cup do you use? Just curious

My rule of thumb, if the soil is wet, do not water. If soil is dry, water.
You can also go by the weight of the pot. If you're not sure what's a dry weight, fill one pot with just dry soil. Then lift each to compare. That's going to take some tuning in and experience to master.

Well I had it soil first and once it popped and I placed it in the coco. But I didn't take it out the soil I made a hole in the middle of the coco and placed the whole ball of soil in the coco. so I wudnt stress the plant.

Speaking of ph, what's the water situation where you are? Well water? City water? Did you check the ph before and after mixing in feed?

Remember the K I S S method. Keep it simple seedling.
The less transplanting in the early ages the better. There might have been a ph difference between the soil and coco when you transplanted, think the killer was adding the additional nutrients.

No i didn't check the ph. City water.

Can you post a photo of the patient? It's really tough to say, my advice just let it ride and see what happens. Worst case it's toast, best case growth is just stunted and she'll bounce back. If you've flushed with water then just leave it be for a few days and play the wait and see game.
