I heard that if you give them 5 hours you can put an hour of light giving them 2 hours of dark on each side will produce more females.

I forgot where I heard it but you give the plant 2 hours of dark then an hour of light then 2 hours of dark and it will make more females, I know it sounds like a myth.

If you can afford a lamp, buy one. That's of course, so long as you can sneak it past mommy.

Hey Breeze.. thanks for the pictures...

now for the bad news..

theonly reason your plant is getting taller is because it is searching for light.. That li8ght you have is not DOING anything.. it blows ass...

The good news is, you can go to walmart or home depot and get a 43watt CFL for 5-10 dollars.... keep the CFL within2 inches of your foliage at all times... CFLS don't give off enough heat to burn a plant and they provide pefect light for your baby...

YOu dont want your plant to grow tall.. YOu want there to be as many nodes in the shortest tighytest plant possible.. THIS IS WHAT MAKES DENSE BUDS...

are you talking about an incadescent bulb? if so then nutes are the least of your worries. Replicating sunlight indoors is by far the hardest part of the equation. Incadescent bulbs are among the absolute worst types of light to grow under. They are much better served supplying excess heat to our homes.

I BEG THE DIFFER! I've killed 1 mung bean plant, and almost caused a pot plant to be topped!
Simply put, if your growing fast growing plants keep an eye out on how close the plants are.

You killed a plant with a cfl... ? ummmmmmm i don't think soo...

picture me please....

Even if a cfl is touching a fan leaf, only the spot where the leaf is touching the light will die... the rest of the leaf will still thrive... this is how LITTLE heat, these lights give off..

cheers

On the bigger cfls though, these do release a lot of heat. Maybe he's talking about the 200w type.

Although even with one of those it's hard to kill a whole plant.

If the breeze fella CAN'T afford a big light, then gk's suggestion is a good one. Although personally I'd still prefer to put them by a window while the sun is out. I do that quite regularly anyway during veg'.
