N.C. passes the 'most anti-LGBT bill in the country'

In one fell swoop, North Carolina politicians held a special session on Wednesday in which they created, passed and signed into law a wide-ranging bill that invalidates a host of legal protections for LGBT individuals statewide.

Some are calling it the “most anti-LGBT bill in the country.”

Understanding that a protracted public debate on the bill would likely create a PR nightmare, elected officials in North Carolina crammed the entire process into a single day — presumably with the belief that it would save them from a fate like that of Georgia, where companiesincluding Disney and the NFL are now threatening consequences if the governor signs a similar bill into law.

It won’t.

Whereas Georgia Governor Nathan Deal still has the power to veto the bill or send it back to the state house for important revisions, North Carolina has made a tremendous miscalculation in rushing it through in one day.

It’s likely corporations will begin announcing statewide boycotts as early as this afternoon as word begins to trickle out about what North Carolina has done.

The worst mistake that homosexual activists ever made was allowing their cause to be linked with transsexuality.

All the hard work and brave victories of homosexuals over the decades are now being usurped by the trans crowd, which is significantly insignificant numerically, and a completely different circumstance than being gay.

I see you've added more letters. Looks like some people are just lumping everyone together who isn't "normal."

The only problem is they have been so succusful with gay rights that society now sees gay people as normal.

Trans isn't there and won't ever be. When you're arguing with someone opposing gay rights, it's easy. Allowing them what they deserve doesn't have any affect on anyone else. It doesn't require investment.

Trans on the other hand can't say that. I'm sympathetic to someone who doesn't want a dude in a dress to walk into the same bathroom his 6 year old daughter is in. So you're measurably harming someone. The only way to avoid that would be to build new bathrooms all over the place for trans folks. That'd be expensive

Without intending to, you made a good point. Yes, the idea of a "state" , statism and Nation States is stupid, since a State relies upon an inversion of logic, which is where the stupid comes from.

You should not reward people for bad behavior. If I see Mr. Mrs. walk into the girls bathroom when my kid daughter is in there, I`m going in and making sure my daughter is not scared or harmed. Anyone that doesn`t even know who the fuck they are or conducts bad behavior daily, cannot be trusted.

Are gays qualified to self determine, and make changes ? That`s right buck, there`s no such thing as qualified to judge Gay. Anyone can do it at will. All you gotta do is free speech out what you feel.
