Gold Prospecting Adventure

Might sound like a far fetched idea or maybe not but I havent found any info directly related to my question so I would like to know if someone here can help me out. I was looking at purchasing an Electroscope and a high quality Whites Metal detector and some gold panning and dredging equipment and hitting the mountains rivers where there is known gold and hopefully get some gold. So the question is will an Electroscope work if I walked the river and river side with it set on gold will it work? Will it find for example a gold nugget under a foot of water, thats about how deep this river is right now? Then if it works I follow the line and find the gold with the metal detector? Thank you for reading.

I have used metal detectors for years around my property. Looking for ordinance that was left behind from a training facility used during WWII
I have found many relics. I have also used my detector for gold as well but with very little luck. I did find one piece of quartz with a small piece of gold embedded in the quartz. There just isn't much to be found in my area of NC.
I researched the electroscope and was intrigued by what I read. The only downfall I see is the initial cost of the equipment. They're quite expensive I'd like to talk to someone locally to see if the technology is beneficial for what you're wanting to use it for and possibly see for yourself it's capability.
Good luck on your endeavor !

Thank you. I fortunately live in a very historic area and theres gold in the rivers in the mountains. A friend of mine found a 3 gram nugget washing off his tools at the end of the day from the shorebank on accident. Since then I've been very interested in trying the electroscope out. I wish I knew more about physics to know whether it will find a gold nugget under water or only in soil and solid surfaces? I bought it on ebay for 695 Im gonna try it out, also just bought the Garret Ace 350 pro metal detector and the garret pinpointer total hit me about 1150$. Im hoping to find an ounce of gold or a pound of silver coins in a month with my strategy. Like I said maybe not realictic but Im gonna try it and If it doesnt work I sell it on ebay and lose a couple hundred. Ill Keep you updated.

From what I saw the manufacturer of the electroscope never mentioned using the device over water. A quick email to the manufacturer should get you an answer to your question.
I applaud your determination and would love to know if you find a stash of gold coins or a big gold nugget !
Good luck my friend .

Im taking my first trip to an abandoned mine in the next week with a friend. The Electroscope literally points you in the direction of gold and silver and it will take you there from over a hundred feet away. Hope to find some cool civil war stuff or some coins and jewlery at the beach. The best part about it is I dont have to scan the whole area and the electroscope will take me to only gold and silver no junk. Im excited for this trip. Ill post my results when I get home from the trip.

As in "Silence of the Lambs". When Dr. Lecter gave the cops the fake name "Louis Friend". Later to which Clarice said "Your anagrams are showing, doctor. Louis Friend. Iron sulfide. Also known as fool's gold".

So that was my joke. Pretty lame I guess.
Oh no not lame at all, Im not good with movie quotes and rememering them. I dont watch many, Now that you explained it its actually pretty good. If you want you can join me on my gold hunting adventures, more eyes the better. o_O

My uncle used to have his own gold mine on the back of his property near Jackson, Ca. My cousins both panned. One lost her high school class ring while panning and recovered it about a mile down river 8 years later, while panning. Not a bad hobby.
What a score. Theres a lot of areas to find some gold around here. Very mineral rich and to be honest Im not trying to make a paycheck from it I just love being in the woods in the middle of nowhere with nothing but the sounds of the wild and mosquitos to bother me. The feeling of the sun beating off the river water early in the morning and listening to the crashing of the water on the rocks, and trout swiming around your feet is just perfect. i doint think Id rather be anywhere else to be honest.
