1000w air cooled

I'm looking into getting an air cooled hood, and im curious how my temps would be an a fairly small size bedroom (something along the lines of 10x11ft) if I could find a proper way to vent. I know that I could get fresh air from an adjacent room, but im not sure where I should exhaust to. Where do most people exhaust hot air?

My current setup is a 600w open hood with a window fan for cool air. I have a really hard time keeping the temperatures down in the warmer season. And I also get sick of having to manage my fan speeds in order maintain a stable temperature. those with 1000w air cooled hoods let me know what you think.

An air cooled 1000 will still, over time, warm that size of room too much if you do not vent the hot air outside.

How do you go about venting hot air outside without letting anyone who glances over notice? Some sort of window fitting with insulation board? The best thing I could think of would be to exhaust into the return air vent at the top of the room.

I cut a piece of plywood to fit my window (inside) and cut a vent hole in that... hook up the vent and away you go. Blow through thebscreen. If its a window that is seen easily that may not work for you... unless maybe you put louvers over the window to disguise???

My window faces into the back yard...

I may be able to get away with that. My only concern would be in the winter time when I've got <20 F and the light is off. Plywood probably isn't going to isolate that window.

Oh...i use some insulation between the wood and the window and a back draft damper... err.... i thought i did...lol

Shitty pic sorry...

A backdraft damper, thats clever. I would'nt of thought of that. and what, you just add that pink wall insulation between the wood and the screen? tough to tell in the picture.

Also, Is it better to go with an 8 inch hood + fan for more cfms? Or is a 6 inch more than adequate?

edit: oh, also (sorry im giving you quite the questionaire, but the internet is actually pretty sparse on exhaust info) How do you go about making a perfect 6 or 8" inch hole? I doubt a hole saw gets that big.

Ya...just the pink insulation. The pic i sent doesnt have that. I forgot it was thebother window i insulated.... but ya... just stuff it in there even all the way around the damper...

A 6" inch fan is fine for one 1000w light... say 440 cfm...

For the hole i just traced the damper and then drilled a 1/2" hole close to the line and used a jigsaw to cut it out. Was kinda sloppy but i just used silicone to seal around it and hold it...

Thanks thats all great info. I dont suppose you've used multiple AC hoods? Im looking at a buyers guide and they all sound nice, but my biggest issue is going to be temperatures. I already struggle with temps using a 600 watt open hood, and If im venting out of my window similar to your picture, my fresh intake is no longer an option. so I would really screw myself if I bought the nicest 1000watt I could find, only to find out that im still pushing 85+ degrees because my room has no dedicated AC unit.

Why would venting out the window eliminate a fresh air intake? You could cut a second hole in the same board and suck fresh air back in. Thats what i do.

I have a fresh air intake from a window, an exhaust only from the tent out the window, and then a light cooling vent out the window. The pic was of my light cooling exhaust only. But on a different window i have the other two...

I vent to another room, never outside!
But intake from window.
But here is some ideas

Or
Just make a hole instead of closing it completely

One more idea

Notice the curtin begind the foam!

i dont think i could permanently intake from a window because of the cold seasons in michigan. inconsistent with the fan rpm. I also dont want to be dumping hot air into a warm house in the summer. but those are very helpful

I live in canada. In the winter it isnt uncommon for outside temps to drop to -30c/f. Insuck that outside air into my grow room... theres always a way...

You need to get your self a good fan controller then its no probleem how much cold air you will suck into the room.

In summer I always open all windowes, then its not hot any more.

I have a flir constantly above my house and there is no way for me also to vent discreetly outside,so those are my best options.
you can vent up to 2000w max in another room and leave the door of this room open and also crack the window alittle bit then
Its okay! Hope this help, all the best.

You can always install a duct heater, if its this bad.
True. But there is easier ways...

My heat exhaust goes out a window just beneath my fresh air intake. So that heat warms the intake air. I dont even get a drop of condensation on my intake ducts when it gets that cold...

Very good idea friend!

However, Like I sayed I cant really do that!

I would like to gbe able to get my intake and exhaust through the window, but the reason i can't do that is because when it becomes hot in the summer I can't cool a hood with 85 degree air. My intake will be coming from an adjacent room that a buddy of mine stays in. The only place I could think to exhaust would be either outside or possibly into the return air duct (less preferable) My only concern with venting outside is that even if I put up insulation board, im worried that when its time for lights off that the room may get too cold at night.
