Cloning

In the past I've always used domes n rockwool to clone. Now I'm attempting to use hydro methods of cloning. My first method I'm trying is the buckets. Using water spraying up on the clones sitting in those foam plugs.

I'm curious. Do you guys just let straight water spray on them? I'm guessing not, from what I've seen so far. From the threads I've had the time to go through it looks like most people are making a solution in the bucket, out of a root hormone and the cloning gel itself. Is this something I should try? If not, I'd like to hear your methods. Thanks in advance!!!

(I apologize but I do not have time to fish through tons of threads to get an up-to-date answer to my question. I'm hoping I could get some friendly input from fellow growers that have sympathy for my serious lack of time/ Thanks guys!)

Liquid rooting solution. The gel helps but it is not necessary if u have fresh healthy cuttings.

Clonex is found at almost every hydroponic store...

I have been using Clonex Gel and Clonex Liquid solution.
When I start to see roots...I put in some "Liquid Orca" That makes the roots explode.

I am now experimenting with my new clones, putting "Great White" in the hole of the rockwool cube when its time to transplant into the cube for me.

Well I use a very light coating to prevent an air em-bolus from getting up the stem. That's all I use the gel for. Then liquid clonex and RO water. I don't add anything else until roots pop out. Then beneficial bacteria. "Orca"

I just use the clone ex gel. Get a shot glass and fill it half way with some gel. Pack the shot glass full of cuttings then start pluging them into rapid rooters or rootriots. Run a 2 foot t5 bulb thru a humi dome, put a wet towel over the top of the dome for 3 days to keep humidity built up

The best method I've found is to use a small cup like the kind you wash you mouth with at the dentist office, you can find these at walmart next to the big red cups. Poke a hole in the bottom so you get run off and fill with a 50/50 mix of perlite and vermiculite. Take your cutting and then take the razor blade and split the end about an inch then dip in your hormone of choice. Fill the cup up until you get run off then insert the cutting. Keep moist and in a warm place; you should have roots in two weeks or less.

I know your switching to bubbler/sprayer type and I was seriously thinking that as well but then I thought why (after it was half built lol) and stuck with what I do. Riot root cubes, roots 3 powder and a medium size clear tote with opaque lid, and a layer of perilite to set the cubes in (probably don't need the perilite but I only water once) then it goes on a heat Matt under 2-2't5's. Also I forgot, rusty razor blade and used Res water. I have pokey roots at 7-10 days and typically their in the net pots at 10. I get 100% consistently, with very few failures.

Try putting about 25% vermiculite in a test or two...it seems to help with just enough water retention to make a difference without keeping the stem too wet.

You would have to stick to what you do if just suspending the plant I would think, I have done what you do and worked great as well. But I gotta say the root riot cubes have been slightly better re quicker by a couple of days at most and slightly better success, I've been using them for 6 months now after shop guy gifted me 50.

Lol...you're keeping it simple bro, I like it. Have you ever seen the air cloning? I was thinking of getting some of those little small round rock wool cubes and trying the air layering cloning.

I've always had luck with keeping it simple. Rooting powder from Lowes, not sure of name but its in a white bottle. Put clones in straight pro mix after cutting at 45 degree angle or close and scraping 1/2-3/4 inch of the outer layer of stem (gently) dip in water then powder. Then water just a little. I get roots in 10 day give or take. Its humid where I live so rarely do I use any domes. I do sometimes though.
