Tasty-LED T2-2100 Review

As it was described to me, a fan with high static pressure is needed to push/pull air through the shroud. Generally, that means higher RPM. With higher RPM comes more noise. The Delta fan is superior in this regard and is highly rated. Also, they're not cheap. Overkill maybe, but if it's your company, you don't want warranty claims because of overheated components.

true that

I never said that the fan that came on board was a bad one, its just a little loud for a stealth unit like what i was building. Kinda hard to explain away the server room sound coming from my closet when my landlord knows that we dont have a computer because there is no internet or cable provider in my town. I do have a fan speed controller for my carbon filter and use it at about 50% power. Its not a huge deal as you can only notice it with the door shut if everything else in the apartment is off and your standing right next to the closet. Its still a heck of a lot quieter than an aircooled 400 watt hps that i was looking at originally. (And uses a quarter the electricity in veg)

Overall i am most pleased with my purchase and will definitely be in contact with Tasty once my needs change. Been thinking about building a greenhouse with cob supplementals once my wife and i purchase our first home.

Including a peek inside my cabinet with an action shot of the light.

so why not just put a voltage reducer on the fan to quiet it down, pretty easy,, most of us do it on our DIY lights
Not trying to fuck up a light that i just spent almost $400 on. Im not so much the electronics guy as i am the small gas engine, ripping the brakes off your civic kinda guy. I have not done nearly enough research (something which i dont have time for as im already a full time student and a father). Also it comes with a warranty that I would not like to void. Maybe if the issue worsens or becomes too much of an annoiance (not something i forsee happening) i will come check out some of your DIY threads.

Thanks for the review. And I agree. I started with CFL years ago. The giant 65 watters I had 4 of them. They work good but they do create ALOT of heat. Plus you have multiple sockets and what not. I still use them for seedlings and when they are small. Occasionally for side lighting. But there are far better alternatives in my opinion. Plus back in the day those 65 watters were $25 a piece. I still have one in my garage and 1 I use in a drop light. I broke the others. Anyway, sounds like you got a great upgrade. Keep us informed.
I remember checking on my last grow when i had almost 300 actual watts of cfl in a similar space. The grow room was open to the bedroom it was in and was only seperated by a blackout curtain. Id pull back the curtain and it would be a little slice of mexico. Once my wife forgot to turn the AC back on in the bedroom and i came home to 107F ait temps in my bedroom! I will NOT miss CFL in the least. They have all found new homes around the house.

I'm currently running 250w MH along side by side with Tasty's T2-1400 in a DR60 2x2 tent. I can say that fan noise on the Tasty is loud pure and simple, yet then again all axial fans are f*ing loud. It's one of the reasons I abandoned premade grow cabs for tents long ago. This however doesn't take away from the excellent light that is the Tasty! Who knows? Perhaps having a passively cooled fixture just doesn't work with LED??

I researched a lot on LEDs before making my purchase. At the time, and is still probably the case, the Tasty leds are the best value and use the best/newest led technology. I was also looking at the Pacific Light Concepts CXA3070 unit but it wouldn't have allowed me to run side by side with HID in a small 2x2, not to mention the fact it was double the price of the Tasty unit.

The Tastys look far better in person than in pictures. The quality of Rahz's builds are second to none.

the pacificlightconcepts unit is cheaper than the tastyleds on both a watt for watt for basis as well as a umols/joule basis.

just sayin....

They're about the same aren't they? 300w from 6 3070s is similar efficiency and output to 300w from 4 3590s. Price for 2 T2-2100s is similar to 1 CX-300, $30 cheaper actually unless there's a coupon code or something for PLC lamps.

yes pretty close but not the same.
T2-2100s running at 2.1 A (154.6lm/w), while the cx300 is running at 1.4A (160.4lm/watt)

Agreed, though the price per umol/j is in my favor without a coupon. There's also a reason I switched over to reflectors. I do what I can to stay competitive.

If the biggest criticisms oriole can come up with involve noisy fans and 6 lousy lumens per watt, I'd say you're doing pretty well.

When EVERYONE says your light's performance is excellent, that's what's it's all about!

What do your fixtures look like now with reflectors? ?!!

They do have a glow about them. What kind of reflectors are those? They look all metal.

They're angela. Plastic. Just got a metallic coating paint. What do you mean a glow? Like in the pic I posted? Same kind of issue?

Yea. The LES radiates out 180 degrees and there's light bouncing around. Some of it's going to get through the cracks.

Dude, Airwalker16... Either those plants are doing horribly or they ain't weed. They look placed next to large windows so I'm assuming they aren't pot plants. ;)
