So I have a 6 inch vortex 452 cfm in a 4x4 tent, running a 1k hps. but need to know something here.. I know this is major over kill but after I dial in this indoor stuff I plan to upgrade. anyways, I have one exhaust connecting to my filter and one connecting to my intake. my question is on the exhaust x filter part.. I have a fan controller to lower the speed of the fan but my filter is rated at 550 cfm. I was told that my cfm on the filter should be a tad larger.

would it work if I lower the speed of the 452 cfm fan that's connected to the 550 phresh filter? how much would the cfm reduce on a controller?

Yes I dont see a probleem..

I have 6 inch s&p silent hoocked to 6 can filter and pushing through 3 cool tubes

I got hybrid sms conteoller and when I turn the fan to the lowest speed I still have air coming from the other side of the duct.

But you have also to hook the intake fan on a controller becouse you need to slightly have a negative pressure so the smell dont get out.

I hook my intake also on the same fan controller however when lights are off, the fan controller turns the intake fan off and keeps the exhust on minimum speed.

Its not overkill I am expirmenting 1200w in 4x4 now.

All the best

thanks brotha.. everything you said is spot on and I made sure I had a little negative pressure cause my tent was mad ballooning lol cause smell is an issue.

you leave one fan on even after lights out?

and let me know how it goes? how you cooling? what are your temps?

oh I have it all turning generally around the same time. lights go on at 4 turn off at 10 and inline and exhaust fans go on at 6 and off at 12.

I leave fans and exhust 24H and I support my tent with bambo sticks from inside so when I have negative pressure I dont lose also from the actual floor space if you know what I mean bcz the tent will be sucked to inside from the negative pressure to reduce your work space

So i do this
