coco pot size advice

I use 3 gallon smartpots and have to water every day during flower using a 600w hps. Kinda wished I would have stepped up to the 5 gallon personally.

I run in three gallon pots and only because they don't tip over as easy as one gallon. Watering frequency is key with coco(I use blumats) but with my minute of experience in coco, you can do exactly the same in a five gallon as a one gallon......veg being the key for size. Rootbound, lol, yeah and it aint never been an issue!

Learn that Drip Clean is your friend and you don't need any fancy expensive nutes. Haha, and for chemical, Maxi-bloom....maybe a tad of ProTek(silicon) for pH up......
remember, it only takes 2 months to flower(give or take)........building the un-necessary perfect biological medium with all the microbes and colonies of ...? IMHO, is not necessary.....

I know this is an old thread, but I was just looking at what other people were doing with coco and I absolutely cannot believe people place arbitary limits like "you can get X amount with this many gallons on your pot."


I pulled 33 oz off of 1 gallon pot.

Used blumats, flushed once in a while. kept it wet. No problems except that the plant was too heavy for the container and wanted to tip.


Stop telling people they can only get a couple ounces from 1-2 gallon pots... plenty of people getting pounds off of 2 gallons and it obviously doesn't really matter what the size is as long as it is enough to transport the nutrients and able to stay wet.

What is your grow method, going to do a three plant, 400 vertical with screens. Would like some advice if you have the time to give it.

Coco and Blumats go together like penis and vagina. Also penis and anus. Pretty much anywhere you can stick it; Blumats, Austria.

Old post but a buddy of mine grew in coco awhile back using the 50 liter bag of Canna Coco as the pot. Basically like a slab. Bottom slits for drainage on a low corrugated plastic roof type sheet for drain to waste. Cut an x slit for the 4" rockwool block. One dripper stuck in the block. 2 more at opposite ends of the bag. Low profile. Vegged the piss outta them. He had 16 monsters of potent diesel hybrid. Using a combination of 1000 watt hps..bare bulb and parabolic old school reflectors overhead. And he pulled easily 8 to 12 ounces per plant. They werent no taller than 4 feet but very wide with a shitload of tops. Lots of training. But it was wild with using the whole bag of Canna Coco on its flat faced side with drain slits and a hole for the rw block up top. The bag eventually turned into one big mat or ball of roots. Super healthy. Mulitple runoff feeds daily. It was a sight.
