i have just germinated and drop the seeds into some soil i pick up out of just an ordinary house plant. right now i just have them sitting in the window right now. and i put a couple in the same pot as the house plant.

but at this stage does the ph level matter in the soil? and what wattage do my lights need to be in order to prevent burn and how close to the plants do i need them?

ph always matters, what type of lights, 400w hps with good ventilation i go 14 inches any larger and you need to be farther away, cfls 2 inches above the plants. they will stretch to much in a window. also you should have them all in there own pot

also to strengthen my chance for females should the soil be more acidic or more alkaline?
i how soon do i need to put them under the lights?

Yeah, but when they you go to transplant them to individual containers they could have thier roots entagled with each other.

Also transplanting can be stressful so you want to do it as little as possible.

Use dixie cups or solo cups. I use cheap generic solo cups with a buch of holes drilled in the botton on the sides and one in the middle on the bottom. Works great for seedlings.

From Feminized seeds

Feminine recipe

Dutch Passion's feminizer testing program revealed that grow room factors can be manipulated to produce better female to male ratios. The female-inducing recipe, to be implemented during the first month of growth, involves providing: 1) more nitrogen, less potassium; 2) more halide (blue spectrum) and less high pressure sodium (red spectrum) lighting; 3) shorter light cycles; 4) a grow medium of 6.6 to 6.8 pH; 5) lower temperatures and higher humidity, plus higher soil moisture; 6) minimized stress (cloning and other stressors can destabilize plants, causing them to go male or hermaphrodite).

Henk is constantly running experiments to fine-tune his feminizer technology. He removed Purple Star from his feminized line because of poor results. Some feminized varieties produce between 80 and 90% females rather than 100%, and a few hermaphrodites have occurred in isolated test crops. Henk has found that Green Spirit, Mazar, Masterkush, Oasis, Blueberry, Buddha, Voodoo, Purple #1 and Trance are the most reliable feminized seeds; he's working to increase the range and dependability of Dutch Passion feminized offerings.

"The difference with Dutch Passion is that we are keeping the trust of our customers by making sure our seeds give them what they expect," Henk says. "We concentrate on ripeness, freshness, and size, and we strive to make strains grow out true. Our goal is to maximize the yield our customers get. I wish I had had Dutch Passion seed company to buy from when I was 18."

ph should be between 6.2 - 6.8 for soil i stay on the high end 6.8 and use the low end for flushes. if you use tap water let it sit out for 24 hours before you use to let the chlorine and other minerals dissipate. you can use baking soda and vinegar to adjust ph but they are very unstable. go to your local pet shop or pool supply store or even walmart and pick up some ph up and ph down, or you can order online.

Keep an eye out for mites, almost all of my house plants have them they are hardy and can stand the constant eating the mites do but weed cannot and they love it for some reason....:roll:bongsmilie hope your soil is ok and stick to good organic soil for seedlings...from a bag. Enjoy growing brings some peace to my stress filled life.......

Speaking of walmart and mites. NEVER BUY HOUSE PLANTS FROM WAL-MART!

They will be infected with something. Wal-mart buys all the cheap shit so gets discounts on plants no one else can sell. I don't know this as an actual fact but I believe it so strongly it might as well be fact. Like how wal-mart gets all of Sam's Club's old produce.

the ph buffers from walmart are fine, you can get the vermiculite and perlite there as well. I mix all my soil with it

Serious about the mites and wal-mart plants. I won't even walk into a Wal-mart plant section anymore because the last time I did (about 2 weeks ago) I glanced down at a little decorative tree and there were little bugs crawling all over the soil. Don't know what they were because as soon as I saw them I freaked and ran the other way. I then went to my girlfriends house and showered and changed clothes before going to my house and my plants. When I got home I sprayed myself down with neem oil, sat outside for about 10 mins, then took another shower.

I was paranoid...
