i cant afford to waste a watt on cfl either.


i want to see the difference from High output ballast/ bulb combo verses standard ballast / high output bulb

I'm debating on whether or not to do a journal on my next extreme-cfl grow. There's sure to be 27 comments on why I should switch to hps...

i'll pit my 1000w against any cfl grower, any cfl setup. let's rock...

hey! check it out... here would be a great thread for a sticky...400w of hps vs 400w of mh vs 400w of cfl cool spec vs 400w cfl warm spec. all the way through, no switching spectrums.

that would do 400w of mh compared to cfl's and hps, etc etc... it would answer tons of questions, and and and...

time for a joint....

I'll bite. I'll use roughly 400 watts of cfl at 2700k for an entire grow. I'll only have bag seed to work with...so there will be that pesky genetic factor. I don't expect to have super high yields (I am reasonable about this). I too think it would make a good sticky.

ive got a few big hps lights, a big m/h, and a boat load of CFLs all of the same wattage. i havent got to work with my new big box yet, but im more than willing to put it up against a big light. im not tootin my own horn but i think this new box will hang pretty well with a single 1000 watt hps.
something like a dual forum would be perfect to see just how much better HID lights really are,,,wouldnt it?

its going to be a while before i can start anything new. maybe as much as a month. but when i have my rooms free ill have 1 of 3 rooms free to try things with. i have a 1000watt HPS, 1000watt M/H, and 1000watt CFL box that i can use for the empty room. but ive never used the CFL cabnet before so i wont be able to use it against an HID just yet,,, gota work the bugs out first

beings that nirvana is so rollitup friendly and so buyer friendly seems like there should be a nivana only type of thing. like every1 that grows white widow bought from nivana could have thier own place to post about the pros and cons of that 1 strain, and compair to other WW grows.
and maybe sum1 could talk nirvana into givein out some beans to some of the contest winners or maybe even to ppl willing to test new strains.
what?!? it could happen lol

Similar strains would have to be grown along side similar wattage.

I have seen cfl's compared to HID's many times across these boards. I've even argued against the use of them without ever having any real experience of using them. I had a 250w grow king, anyway I sold it.

Obviously equal wattages are essential too. After that it's down to your nutes, environment and your personality (I believe that cannabis likes some people better than others, and will respond better because of this).

No limits on Co2 or enzymes things like that. Although a regular, well-documented log of everything MUST be kept, and updated here on rollitup. We now have seven challengers, that's enough for a forum, maybe one more...

I have my excuses for not taking part at the moment. My system is not running at full pelt yet and I'd like to get that ticking over smoothly first... maybe in a month. Although as I have said there are enough challengers to get a forum going, it's just that I don't think rollitup is completely sold on the idea just yet.

there should be a few rules that are the same in any contest. like you must have a camera and post pics atleast weekly. and something of a bullshiters law will be needed too. something to keep ppl from just gettin some big nuggy pics off google.
