Those kind have been around for a while now. They're alright if you want a mixture of light spectrums. Most are made by no-name Chinese companies and are of questionable quality though. They won't be as cost effective as CXB COBS either, since those are the most light for the money currently available in LEDs. I have no personal experience with the MCOBs but I'm pretty sure the CXBs would be the best buy and produce at least as good results. Maybe add some pure red LEDs or COBs, if you can find them, with the white ones and have a separate IR light for 5 minutes end of day. For UVB, reptile CFLs seem to be the only practical source currently. UVB LEDs are very costly, because few are made I guess. UVA and UVC ones are much cheaper.MCOB Multiple Chips on Board ....Anyone try these yet ?.... really sounds like a good thing. Here's a link http://www.cobgrowlights.com
wrong, these multi-3w single diodes on a chips are of the crappiest quality around. they burn out and have poor efficiency,Those kind have been around for a while now. They're alright if you want a mixture of light spectrums.
Okay, as I said I have no experience with them. I can see how they could burn out easily though, because they mix a bunch of different types of LEDs and they will have slightly different power drawing characteristics. When the weakest link LED burns out, the whole thing will stop working.wrong, these multi-3w single diodes on a chips are of the crappiest quality around. they burn out and have poor efficiency,
if I was restricted to 3w chips I'd rather get single diode units, as in apache. or even the cheap Chinese UFOs.
some are more perfect than othersThe fact of the matter is no LED Grow Light is perfect.
.....ACTION NOW!some are more perfect than others
hey usually vendors need to pay for a blatant advertisement. @sunni
Seems to work well enough. If they were like dirt cheap you'd probably sell some. With a price similar to known reliable COBs it may be hard to compete. Even with a warranty, it's a lot of hassle. The 200w one isn't terribly overpriced though. May sell a few.@TriPurple
You can review this blog for images. Don't mind what people say when they've never tried something.
95% of the growers online have not tried more than a few grow lights and are afraid to test others.
GrowthStar (www.COBGrowLights) (Based in Canada) offers a very solid 3 year warranty, 60 day buy back policy, and FREE shipping.
If a light that you buy something from cobgrowlights.com and as these people on the forum assume that the LED stops working then you can just phone their toll-free number, email, or message them on Facebook and they will send replacement parts, fix it, or make it right. No other company does that. Especially not when you buy directly from some factory in China.
The fact of the matter is no LED Grow Light is perfect. That's why you need to ensure the company backs up their policies and warranties. LEDs are an investment for the long-term. COB LED chips make sense because they have less light loss than typical LEDs (cough, mars hydro).
If the pictures here don't convince you then nothing will. You won't know until you try something out yourself.

Lots of great testimonials and feedback from our third party growers who absolutely love these COB LEDs.
You can pay 2-4x as much for something similar from another company but in that case you may as well just buy 2-4x more from us instead.

Yeah prices are kind of high but if you bug them about replacement parts or defects they go to great lengths to help you.Seems to work well enough. ACTION NOW!!! i got 2 new leaves a week, this amazing, many thank you, good cob, DONT BE SCARED, ACTION NOWYeah prices are kind of high but if you bug them about replacement parts or defects they go to great lengths to help you.
Kind of supposed to keep this on the low down but... GrowthStar has a new COB coming out that is cheaper than the 200W and twice the watts. They want to test e.g.blurble vs white light to see what is better for growing mmj before selling but I'll be getting one soon to play with. It's got a cheaper case design similar to Mars but the chips are better. Pretty stoked.
OK, I read the ad. Call me simple, but explain to me how your photons are so much better than the 3500K photons coming from my 50 plus % efficient Vero 29s I am running now. I want to get excited about this next big rage in led lighting...but I'm just not seeing it...yet. Help me out.@TriPurple

LEDs are expensive enough when you buy them from a parts place and assemble them yourself. Giving a retailer his cut on top of that gets a little ridiculous. I wish GrowthStar well with their business. Probably not going to find many takers on this particular forum though because it's mostly DIY oriented people and we know how much stuff actually costs. One thing I don't like about the MCOBs in these lights is that the IR is on all the time rather than just 5 minutes after lights off, so it could cause some stretching. Separate small IR lights would probably be better.Yeah prices are kind of high but if you bug them about replacement parts or defects they go to great lengths to help you.

Ya true enough. I'm too busy growing to do the DIY bit. Not sure about the IR. Perhaps incremental benefits that won't make it cost effective to the buyer. I grow fine with the lights as is and have thousands of photos to attest.LEDs are expensive enough when you buy them from a parts place and assemble them yourself.
