12x12 Basement Grow Room

Good Evening Ladies and Gents,

As you can see from the title I will be operating out of my basement and will be framing up walls to make a 12x12x8 room. Since this is my first grow I will be vegging and flowering in this room. I am going to tell you all my prospective setup and welcome any and all advice/critiques to point out any errors I may be making or to hear out better ideas. I currently have 15 seeds on order and plan to grow with hydroponics but need to do more research before I ask questions. Listed below is the equipment with links embedded that I plan on using. Lights is where I would appreciate suggestions the most and what I have below is a feel of what I think would work in my room.

Six 600W HPS/MH: Apollo Horticulture

1 Air Filtration: iPower Air Carbon Filter 6in I plan to mount this outside the room in the top right corner so it also pulls out hot air.

Inline exaust for Filter: iPower 442 CFM Mount inside to pull air out and into filter

The six lights are for the future when I have the room full. By my math the fan should completely turn over the air in roughly 2.5 minutes which is more than enough correct? If you are an experienced grower I'd love to hear what you would do with this space. Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

Exciting times. Some advice from a relatively new grower myself:
  • Start small. I started with only 3 feminized seeds and started them as mothers in soil. I began taking clones and finding my way in hydroponics and I have (for now!) settled in with DWC but frequently have soil babies going as well.
  • I found that soil provided an excellent 'control' plant, as the basic nutrients are in the mix already. As a newbie I wasn't concerned about specifics (OR YIELD, Temper expectations!), only a healthy plant to learn the basics of ph, temperature control, topping, LST, etc, etc, but most of all to see the plant's lifecycle and watch how they respond.
  • Keep a log for each plant.
  • After completing the basic enclosure of your room (perimeter walls, electrical, ceiling), I recommend a few grow cycles with movable partitions like panda-film/tarps/etc so you can rearrange and adapt as your grow style evolves. Flexibility is key.

Im in the process of building a 4x4x8 room! Looking forword to following ur post. Ill chime in later im out with the family right now haha.

My first indoor grow myself!
