Area 51 w90 vs new spectrum King "closet case"

I'm having a hard time trying to pick from these two lights. I was just about to place my order for 2 Area 51 w90 4K lights then I stumbled across new lights from spectrum King called closet case. It's a 100 watt from the wall light that seems to be promising. I briefly talked to people at spectrum King about theirs vs Area 51 w90. I know they are going to push their product but I figured I listen to what they have to say apples for apples. Basically they said the led is overall better because it can cover more area to veg and flower. I just would like to get others opinions.

Area 51 and tasty are my choices for light. I may have to buy half my lights now and keep my grow small and then add to the lighting to fill my 2x4 tent. Both company's sell quality stuff from what I have read. Tasty has excellent customer service. He has responded quickly to all my emails.

Tasty is @Rahz and is one of the only ones still hand building them...can't beat that imho :peace:

All the rest are good because they used good innards 1st and then the case and aesthetics comes next...sucks about A51

33k lux at 12" is bad. My 100 watt unit puts out about triple that at 12". Double at 18", and about the same at 2.5-3ft. 2 a51s will destroy that light.

Most hear have paid premium prices for "hype" at one time or another. That is why some of us are so passionate about high quality lighting. The best builders list all of their major components, something to look for.

Still don't care much for blurple.

Apparently Jeff / a51 / eraser head saw my post in this thread. Now he wants to sue me. Because of my reputation he fears I could hurt his business. He fabricated lies saying I threatened him in multiple emails. Yet I only sent 4 emails since I last heard from him. 2 said what's the word and that was it. Another 2 was asking what's the deal and saying I don't understand why his partner got butt hurt to something I said about the party cup comp in no reference to him nor his company. Why his partner flew off the handle and attacked and insulted me. I still have all those emails saved.

Jeff owes me a light or 2. I won a light in the party cup comp. He said he would give me the prototype 100w cree panel which would not be available for 2 months. That was the one taken off the site. . If I couldn't wait he would send me 2 v90's slightly used within 2 weeks. He even said I turned down the proyotype for a newer light and that was ok by him. That never happened. There is no newer light. He even removed the prototype cree panel from his site.

So after 3 weeks I emailed him and he said he would send them after he was done trimming. Another week went by. And he emailed me said they are being shipped. That was Feb 11. He did say weather was bad. I waited another 2 weeks and emailed saying what's the word. And nothing. A few days later I sent another email. Then a few days later Jeff's partner emailed me saying he will send me the lights. I then posted in the party cup since the germ table was too short I wouldn't have the lights in time. "Too little too late ". That sentence in reference to the germ table. His partner took that as a personal attack on him. He then asked me about that. I stated what I meant. Then he told me I should have chose another prize. That I should know a51 is very slow in sending out lights and replying to customers. That's just how they work. His words not mine. Then he attacked me in a long email. And pretty much insulted me. Then said he won't send me shit. I have to wait on Jeff.

I still never heard from Jeff. My last contact with a51 was with his partner at the end of February. I asked Socalrob and Dawg if they could get in contact with him for me. They have had problems with customer service with them too. That's beside the issue at hand.

Apparently in a long rambling email to Rob, Jeff said he took screen shots of all my many negative posts (only 1 in reality and it was truthful ) and sent them to his lawyer. The other post in the party cup thread just described what had transpired after I was asked by OneHitDone.

In all reality if he really does sue me, the judge will laugh this out of court. He has zero basis for his claim. I would obviously win. He is the one that screwed up not me. I never once threatened him. I've been polite and cordial this whole time.

I kept my mouth shut for months til now. I will be posting those emails on here later today.

What a joke hyroot, A51 can go in the same category as Hydroponic Hut or GroBlu as far as I'm concerned.
With so many new fresh led companies on the scene with proper customer service it is hard to believe they would act this way rather than step up their game and lead the led pack with class.

And on the topic of class and proper customer service, if anyone is in the market for a kick ass 400W class veg light be sure to show inda-gro some love and pick up a Pro Par 420. We gotta support these guys with the bs they are going though :evil:

Why would you even worry about this? He doesn't have enough money to keep his warehouse stocked if he had money for a lawyer i'd shit my pants and paint a unicorn with it.

He had plenty of time to respond to you, he is just being a grade A doucher. Glad I chose not to waste my money and I appreciate people like you sharing your experiences. You were a winner of a competition and he treats you like a piece of shit, well ... that is because he himself is a piece of shit so how could he possibly project anything else?

Anyone wanna take bets on the longevity of the Area51LED brand? Lots of people rebrand these days...lol.

They might got a few screws loose it sounds like and also could be hurting for money as well, kinda sad, but honestly they are douche bags so I don't care if they sink.

I wanted to add to what hyroot was talking about. Because of what I went through with admin, I don't want to talk about specifics here relating to the last party cup comp. what I want to share with everyone is my warranty experience here with Area 51. I have bought 3 lights from them, 2 xgs 190's and 1 Rw 150. I haven't any idea how anyone else's warranty experience was but here was mine.

The Rw 150 I bought last year and during the first run I noticed a noise in a fan that got progressively worse during the run. I contacted Jeff last November about it and told him I could fix it if he sent me the fan. He asked me to open the light and take a pic of the bar code inside which I did. I've sent 3 emails between then and now and have gotten no response about it, 4 plus months now. The last email I sent with the email about the party cup situation and only got a response about that and nothing again about the warranty repair.

Limited lifetime warranty?, that panel wasn't even a year old and nothing. Jeff I know you read these posts so do the right thing and resolve these issues. In good faith I bought 3 of your lights expecting the warranty you promise on your site. Your rep is taking a hit because of your actions. All of this could have been easily avoided. Your panels were near the top with a few other company's but it's a different game now. You said in that last email you were protecting your company, let me finish this by asking where does my consumer protection fit in here?.

Wow that is shitty, I am glad I haven't had any issues with my area 51 lights, but I am also sorry to hear about your situation, sounds like you need to DIY fix your a51 LED.

I bought 6 Area 51 RW-150's. The other day I was just thinking about how the lights work pretty good. But, their customer service sucks. When my lights broke the second time, I just ended up taking it apart and fixing it myself. Easier and much quicker.
