grow pots

Ok so my question is this,

My grow pots do I gradually work up? or do I start in its flowering pot? The reason I ask is because transplanting stunts the plant so why not grow to maturity in one pot eliminating the stunt growth from trans planting just trying to get this right the best way I can thanksw

You're right in your thinking. Repotting stresses the plant out a bit. If you can start in your flowering pot then all the better...

From my limited knowledge...

If you're growing autoflowers, then yeah, it's better to start in final pots, as transplanting can stunt them and their life cycle is limited as it is.

However, growing an indoor photoperiod plant, it's only going to go into flower when you allow it too. Theoretically, you could keep it in veg for as long as you like, allowing the plant time to recover from transplant stress. If you transplant properly and carefully, stress and stunting should be minimal.

Planting a tiny seed in a massive pot will mean your young plant week spend it's time feeling out it's underground environment, which will mean super slow growth above ground. People tend to raise seedlings in smaller pots and pot up in stages as the plant can form a decent root ball for the container, and then throw out some green shit above ground. When you pot up, it already has established roots that will then spread and feel out the space again.

Also, how gutted would you be if you used 10 gallons of expensive, premium soil and nutes, only for it to be male?

Don't ask me though, I don't know shit.

Time is not to much of an issue but dont want to be growing for 6 months because my roots decided they want to journey around a big pot before they establish a nice root ball. So then i will be transplanting. I was just curious thanks for the responses

I do this method when repotting. The plants dont notice a thing.

Clear plastic solo cup. Put that clear plastic solo cup into another colored solo cup. This way I can see how the rooting is going on and I can see better when I need to replant just by lifting out the clear cup now and again.

When I repot, I put the solo cup into the larger pot filled with the medium already and work it in. Keep the solo cup in there and then water the medium around the solo cup. Then I take the solo cup out and it should leave a perfect cup imprint in the medium. Loosen out the plant from the cup to repot and put in the bigger pot in the imprint. Easy, it should just fit in there like putting in a jigsaw puzzle piece.

My explanations are crap but I hope it makes sense.
