Clones

Okay I got a couple questions, im hoping someone can answer.
I was wondering if some people only use clones to grow, and never use seeds?
And do they yield the same as normal plants? and how many days from clone to flower? THANKS :)
I will always use clones if possible, Because then you know that they are female, and you know that the plant will have the traits you desire.
As for how long to veg your clones. Well I just put 20 clones straight from the clone dome into flowering. This way I do not get all those branches with the shitty pop corn buds. (I hate manicureing tons of small popcorn to golf ball sized buds. With clones sent directly to flowering you will get a single cola with next to no branches. I get zero branches because i clip them off. When you look at my grow area at about week 5 on, it looks like a bunch of green lolly-pops sticking up. This is my first go at this way of growing, but I have friends who do it. MANICUREING can be a bitch at times with big bushy plants

Lord Dangly Bits, can you post pics when it gets to that 5 week time frame. I am extremely interested in this type of grow. I currently use a perpetual grow and I am just now getting it dialed in. My next type grow is the Lollipop type you just described.

About 4 crops ago a buddy talked me into cutting off all the lower branches that were not at least half way up the stock. I argued against it, but When all ways said and done, at the end of harvest I had just as much buds, but the buds I did have were much harder, denser and also had much more Trichs. It was much easier to harvest also. Cut my harvest time in half. This is why I am going into flowering stage directly from the start of my clones once the roots pop.

hey lord dangly, i've been asking about this lollipoppin technique for a while, check out my grow if ya can...i've got nice bushy plants and have cut a bit off the bottom but am scared of stressing the plants by cutting off more low branches..i'm 4 days into flower am i too late?

Here's my plant day 12 flowering with the "lollipop" "lst" method.
That is a nice looking plant. But I cut even more off my plants when I let them veg for 3-5 weeks. I would have cut at least 3 more branches off. When I finish cutting my plant, it looks more like an Umbrella.

I think to many people are stressed over stressing their plants. I have done all kinds of wild shit to plants. I have broken off branches 6 weeks into Flowering and tied and duck taped them in place and had them heal. I have cloned a bud and had it grow. And a few other things. And not once have I had a hermie... ( Knock on WOOD)

There are many different ways to get to the end of a harvest. This way works great for me. My harvesting and Manicureing time is much faster this way. And I get far less clippings and bullshit buds. Buds do not grow very well in the shadows. This is why the Umbrella techinic seems to work, and the foliage has full light. But this grow I am pushing it one step further, as I said I am putting 20 clones directly into 12/12 light cycle straight out of the clone dome. Should be a sight to see. bongsmilie

Thought i'd throw in the day 11 and day 12 pics of some buds growing.

Also too this plant is NOT a clone...it's from seed and my own personal strain. However I did take clones from her...and i'm glad i did.

When I started her flowering cycle it only took 2 days for buds to appear everywhere.

No...32W T8's. I use 7 5000K and 3 3000K tubes to produce a much closer colour to what the sun would put out. My trics are just crazy...using flouro's will yield you less...but have more trich production then HPS or MH.

I will be adding about 3-4 more 4' banks...2 more on top and 1 maybe 1 more on the sides...i'm just flooding this little space to get the best results.

The idea came from an article i saw in High Times, so i figured i'm always up for new good techinques...and since my HPS ballast went, i figured i'd dump some $$ into this and see how it fairs...so far????...I'M FUCKING IMPRESSED!!!!!!!

Hey HomeGrownBoy,
I am not trying to bust your balls here. But when I moved to where I live now. I had to buy all new equipment, and I started out with t-5's and some CFLS. They did a good job. But after a while of more lights and reflectors. I was useing more watts for less light then going and buying a 400 watt HPS. I still sometimes hang my t-5 as side lighting. Depending on the size and shape of the plants.

I think that once you get to about 300 watts with t-?'s and cfls, you might as well just go with a 400 watt HPS for flowering. Or do like I did and say screw it and go pick up the 1,000 watters.

But to each his own. I am trying to show a guy on a tight budget how to grow a few plants with a t-5 and some CFLS now.

I still use my t-5's and cfls for most all my cloning and veggieing.

Ya i know...when i do grow indoors i've always used HPS...but i just wanna give this a try to see how it turns out. Like I said i'm not dissapointed at all, and i'm not really concerned about the $$, i've only spent about $60 and my bill has only gone up about $3 a month.

I realize I would get MUCH larger buds...but the trich production to me is more important than size, besides where I live right now n HPS would make my room TOO hot, since summers here are HOT!!! as of now it doesn't get hotter then 78-79, but usually around 74-76. Once it gets cooler out I just may go pick up a new ballast if harvest isn't that great.
