Morning all! I'll get some pics up in a few. @ Bert, I have a 7" cross also. It's funny looking cuz it's so small but is gonna be a bud ball when done. It's a little messed up due to hot soil but it should make it lol.
Heisenburgs are doing good. One better than the other. The one doing well is just promix and a little worm casting. The other is in my mix that I think got a poorly mixed section of soil. I've also got two Tyron specials from mephisto and a n lights from female sowing decent. Pics after I finish my morning wake and bake....puff puff>>>>>>>>>>

Hey Uni, I'll be starting up my new lights in the next month I think. If you haven't gotten what u need, you can have my 400. It's a digital ballast and cool tube. The bulb is new and will only have this grow on it. It's a mh/hps conversion one so it should do well for you. Not a high end one, but it's put out some great smoke.

Thanks Twistedentities, I may take you up on that. I have a 8" cooltube sitting in my closet that I bought used on CL before I got The Tron. In comparison to the 3x3 tent that I was going to put it in, it is a beast but I can make it fit if I put it in diagonally. I am just short the ballast and light. I pretty much gave up on trying to find a "name brand" ballast and have just recently started to look at cheap no-name ballasts because of what someone posted on this thread. ( Sorry I forgot who published the post and exactly how it was worded). They basically said that they used exclusively used CL stuff and have never used a "name brand" ballast and have only had one problem and that was with a Ipower ballast that they used for a full year before having a problem with it. I am considering biting the bullet and buying that Gromedics package that I showed you before: 250 and 400 watt switchable ballast with MH and HPS bulbs included with free shipping for like $120 or something like that on Ebay. I will know if I can afford it or not next week. Thanks again, it really means a lot to me, and makes me feel really good, to know that you made that offer; weather you mean it or not, thanks.

I forget, are you in Texas or Amsterdam?

The grow medic isn't a bad deal. The 400 I have is a 6" and I've had for about 8 years. Paid 150 for it. Other than new bulbs, it fires like it did the first day. If you go with the packages, always spend a few extra bucks and get a good bulb upgrade. Name brand is nice but not needed for a home grower. I'm moving up to gavitas and a cmh light but that's after 10yrs of 'econo' equipment growing. And no one ever complained about what I smoked with them. I'm in neither lol. Dirty jersey for me
Edit. If you need it, it yours. For real

For some reason I thought that you were either in The Valley of Texas, south of Corpus Christi, or in Amsterdam; I'm not sure why though. Lol! In case I thought that I showed this to you, and really didn't, here is the ballast and light package that I am considering: http://www.ebay.com/itm/400-watt-400w-HID-Dimmable-Ballast-Switchable-HPS-MH-Bulb-Silent-Ballast-/121094243525

I just kicked this around with my wife and it seems that I may have enough money to get this after all, so when my money comes in I just might get this. Especially after reading that you have had one and it works fine. One of my fears about this was getting the package and then finding out the hard way that only certain bulbs will work with this ballast and then having to go out and buy really expensive or special bulbs just to make this work. But you have set my mind at ease, thanks.

And thanks for your incredible offer! So, not only do you give me great advice about growing but you also are offering me a proven effective system to assist me with my projects? I am extremely thankful of your kindness! You have got to be one of the nicest people that I have run across in a really long time. I'll be able to make a final decision next week when I pay bills and find out how much, if anything, is left over and then I can get back with you.

That's a pretty good deal imo. I would have had the light available now but redoing the redone grow shed lol. I figured with my disability, I want everything at waste level instead of floor. Doing this is causing everything to come back out. Hoping it's finished by mid May

Yeah, I have had my eye on that for quite awhile now. I ran across that on ebay when I was looking for lights for my tent. I emailed them earlier and they didn't get back with me so I called them and asked about the ballast. I am told that it should run any bulb with a E39 base; it does switch from 250 to 400 watts but he strongly recommended that I use only 400 watt bulbs and he was not sure if it ran Ceramic Metal Halides or not. That deal is $120.00(ish) to the door. I talked to a shop guy who said he could hook me up with a Xtrasun electronic switchable (250 to 400 watts) with a Xtrasun HPS for $160 cash money and another shop guy who countered with a Ultragrow 400 watt dimmable with a 400 watt bulb (he didn't specify the name of the bulb other than 400 HPS) for $150. If all goes as planned, which normally in my household it does not, I should be able to get into one of these by Thursday and rolling again by end of week. So, don't knock yourself out trying to get that to me as I may have this resolved. My wife has been somewhat critical of what The Tron has produced anyway and has mentioned several times that we need to upgrade to something better anyway, so I guess we will be making the plunge soon.

H.S. #3 sprouted, but has yet to pop up above the soil as of a little while ago and I put her in The Tron Tuesday, so I am thinking that this one didn't make it either. The Tron directions say to give it 10 days, but I am losing hope fast. I have two H.S seeds left. I am reluctant to try a third Tron grow with one of them based on what has happened to the other three so, I may put this off until I get my light situation resolved.

As of earlier today I have determined that H.S#3 has died for some reason. As foolish as this may seem, I took out another H.S. to let it warm up and I will germ it later today. This time I won't be using the rockwool cube. I will plant the sprouted seed directly into the coco. Once these H.S. seeds are used up, successfully grown out or not, I will be transitioning into HID. After doing some quick research on the Ulragrow ballast, I think that I may g'head and get that setup when I can. It seems to be a low end ballast that is really made by Plantmax, I like the idea of supporting my local economy, I like the shop guy (C.J. @ Texas Hydroponics in Houston), I know that if anything goes wrong with it he will resolve whatever problem I may have with it ( warranty or not) and it helps his business to grow too which means he should be around a lot longer than if I hadn't bought this setup from him. Furthermore, I found a bulb made by Plantmax that is a 7200k bulb that I am considering using for the veg cycle, once everything is setup and rolling, etc.

@twistedentities: 1.) Thanks again for your offer- my head is still reeling from your post from yesterday offering me your system as I guess is a random act of kindness; you've become a true "friend on the other end of cyberspace."
2.) I may hit you up for advice when the time comes when my new light system is up and rolling as I have read tons of material on how to grow with HID, but I have never done it, so I will be consulting you when the time comes if that's ok.

@sassafras: That goes for you too; I am extremely thankful that you thought enough of me to offer me your HPS bulb; used or not, you tried to help me out and I am very thankful. If the world had more people like you then it would be a much better place to live. I hope you have kids and I hope all of your kids turn out just like you: caring and compassionate.

When I germinate seeds I just pop them in the rockwool and keep the cubes on a glass dish until I see roots coming from the bottom then I transplant to soil. I also keep the plastic on the cube until it goes into the soil. It may be hard to determine what is going on with the cube that has been planted in the soil. It may be too dry, or too wet. The reason for using the rockwool is so you don't have to plant in a big pot of soil right away. You may want to try that method as it is nearly 100% for me.

I thought I saw basically the same method used by a buddy of mine and I tried to mimic what he showed me and have failed twice now with rockwool. The only real "successful" grow that I have had has been my AxT grow that I finished up before this one. That seed germmed by/on accident. I had my cube soaked and ready to go, placed it in the soil in the bottom of The Tron, opened the hole on the cube a little wider than it was, took my germmed sprout, placed it on the opening of the cube, watered the sprouted seed and managed to wash it away into the soil. When I tried to pick it up, it was like watching a Chevy Chase skit where he knocks over a glass of water and tries to catch it before it falls and manages to knock over several more in the process and before you know it he has managed to take out an entire tray of glasses. This was basically the same thing; the harder I tried to pick up this seed the deeper it got into the soil so I just left it there and tried again to start another seed. That seed never did come up, but the first one that I lost in the soil did. Furthermore, the directions for The Tron does not mention anything about rockwool; it says to plant direct into the soil. I am supposed to be using sphagnum moss, but have opted to use coco with a little perlite and vermiculite instead. So, in my babbling, I guess what I am trying to say is: by planting direct into the soil maybe that will increase my chances of a successful grow and the one time that I have completed a grow I planted direct into the soil. I have copied and pasted your recommendation into a "cheat sheet for growing" of sorts for reference and will take your advice the next time I try rockwool. Now that I think about this a little harder, I have realized that the rockwool was a freebie from a shop, so maybe there is something wrong with the cubes; maybe they just gave it to me knowing that there was something wrong with them? I'm not sure. I am just really frustrated because these are more or less predatory plants which means that they should grow in almost any climate regardless of how mild or harsh they may be. How hard can growing be? In fact, the Ruderalis strain is primarily found in Northern Russia which has got to be one of the harshest climates that there is. So, if it can grow in like negative fifty degree weather on it's own with no problem, why is it having such a hard time growing in my closet in seventy five to eighty degree weather all while getting all the water, light and air that it needs the whole time?

It's either me doing something wrong and haven't figured out what I am doing wrong yet, the cubes that I have been using or just bad luck. I am warming up another H.S. seed to be germmed and I will try this again. Thanks again for chiming in, I really appreciate your feedback and advice.

Update time. Heisenberg on the left still :)
Day ~48
Toofless alien
Day ~39 edit- I forgot how to count apparently ;)

Truck in right along. I will say I'm fairly certain the HS would have been a bit bigger had its first week been under the 400. I do believe I stunted it. Even so, it is doing well, and has a musty artificial grape ish smell, hard to pin down

They are doing good. The dinafem amnesia will be a big plant. I think the Heisenbergs will be to. These were popped straight in soil.

Auto flowers developed a flowering mechanism due to the long hours of daylight where they grow. They use the taproot to flower.

When you plant in plugs, cubes, or cups you do not get the most out of an auto flower.

These will be close to 3-4 feet tall when finished. That is a guesstimate. Based on past observation.

Heisenbergs are the two big pots on the left. Dinafem amnesia is big pot on the right. The cups and little pots are c99 and ww x bigbud to go outside.
